Already downloaded, will move my Win7 install over ASAP.
Might move over on Vista if there's a real performance increase (still on 179.48 there). -
For me, these drivers are not as good as Dox's 185.68 since I get 200 less on 3dmark06.
-
.
I will bench them later today.
Oh, and looks like the 280M GTX in the M570ETU is finally supported. -
Yeah you're right about that, but if you would get a good score on 3dmark 06, then overall in games you will have better fps.
-
That I have to agree with although it may not always be the case. Some games will perform better even tough you get lower 3dmark06 scores. We will just have to see real gaming performance, I tend to believe that generally what is new is also better.
-
Nice release... Even if 3dmark scores are lower for some people, it looks like the gaming performance looks better... The nvidia site says this:
# Accelerates performance in several 3D applications. The following are examples of improvements measured with Release 185 drivers vs. Release 179 drivers (results will vary depending on your GPU, system configuration, and game settings):
* Up to 25% performance increase in The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena
* Up to 22% performance increase in Crysis: Warhead with antialiasing enabled
* Up to 11% performance increase in Fallout 3 with antialiasing enabled
* Up to 14% performance increase in Far Cry 2
* Up to 45% performance increase in Mirror’s Edge with antialiasing enabled -
The_Observer 9262 is the best:)
Works good for me on XP 32 bit too.
-
yeah, that's not true.
you need to pay attention the the 2.0/3.0 scores and check what setting is set. because when installing a new driver it reverts everything to high quailty or very high quality. usually the newer drivers have lower cpu scores but higher gpu scores., which will give you a lower over all score. -
you can use DH Drivercleaner.NET ,to remove many drivers completely as system32 have backup from old drivers.
-
I'm not normally awake right now, but I passed out like 4 hours ago...
Anyway, I like this driver, and I'll stick with it. 3dmark06 is down about 100 points from Dox's 182.46, and vantage down a bit as well. But those aren't important.
Testing games, FC2 proved a bit faster. I ran some very high dx10 AA tests (ranch long), and got 43.18, 40.84, 38.20 with no AA, 2x AA, and 4x AA respectively. Ultra was up to 42.56 from 41.32.
I didn't keep the numbers, but the DMC4 bench was very close to 182.46. Crysis DX9 performance dropped 1-2 frames, but DX10 was within 1-2 tenths. I'll keep this driver for the time being, since it performs like my previous best driver if not better in games, and it's official. -
I've got a slightly smaller 3dmark06 score (20-30 points). The temps however are considerably higher .
-
On my 8662, temps are down bout 4C on the GPU and 3DMark06 is up about 80 or so points. L4D seems to run a tad smoother but I havent noticed a real difference in Fallout3...
-
The 7 64-bit driver is great stuff.
-
this driver didn't need any modding like the previous,
Temp. are the same start from 62C idle! -
geez...you guys are really fast on this.
-
are these the same as the beta 185.81 but now released as official.
-
They've added optimizations for some games, as well as GTX 260M/280M support. It's overall a worthy upgrade from a beta driver. It looks like they're now doing simultaneous releases with identical desktop and mobile drivers, so laptopvideo2go may become obsolete.
-
could be...depends on if they drop support for older cards....
still, the driver is nice, but not better than the 185.20...i wonder what is different.... -
Wow, I feel stupid, I downloaded the desktop version and couldn't figure out what was wrong until I looked at the downloaded exe.
Anyways, soild driver, feels quicker than the beta. -
WoW, these drivers are running hot. I got 87C max after half an hour of intense WiC multiplayer. I used to get 81-82C max.
Although in my laptop, the fans never hit full speed unless I force them. -
some of this stuff is for my curiosity...thanks in advance. -
My idle GPU temp. decrease spontaneously with base temp. 57-60 C......return back to normal!!!!!!!!
-
I didn't changed between quality performance and all that, because I always set it to performance (not high performance) and secondly I just don't really have time right now for testing.
I have tried working around with the fan speed and raising the back. Running the fans at max got me a max temp of 82 and with the back raised I got 79C.
Still they run pretty damn hot. I've never seen drivers to run this hot on my GPU. -
it's because they aren't down clocking
-
-
my HD is now idling at 54c and it was 51c with the beta 185.81
couple more day testing and then im reverting back. -
I dont like this driver. It boost my temps by quite a bit.
On the bright side, I could OC more in 3dmark and vantage and got some nice scores.
But I`m going back to Dox. -
in Windows 7 RC ......they add more options in power options in multimedia setting for power saving.
-
I got almost 200 more in 3d Mark 06 (from 10400 to almost 10600), but playing playing Far Cry 2 seems to max out the temp on my laptop. I haven't monitored the actual temperature yet, but will do so later on today. Does anyone know at what temp my GPU would begin to downclock (I assume that is the only way high temps effect performance?)
-
I haven't seen any downclocking up to 85C. Hitting 85C basically requires an intense session of Crysis while not using my Zalman, so that's the max.
