hi guys this is the message that pops up when i try to play gears of war. Its great vista is trying to get me update but its stuipd its trying to get me an update that doesnt even exist for this card so once.. again when you think vista will pull something good for you it fails you in a minute.

    message:
To run Gears of War with your current hardware setup, you must install the following software update or updates:

    + NVIDIA ForceWare 163.44 Driver
+ Update to Windows Vista to resolve graphics virtual address problems (KB940105)

If you do not install this software, at some point the game will stop and your progress will be lost.

what can i do ??/ i have the 8600 gt and only reason i got the laptop as many of you know is to run gears of war on it so what can i do here? please help thanks ! BTW anyone running gears on the 2090?

well i just wanna say i messed up, you can acutally just skip it.. But its stuipd that it makes you download a driver that isnt even for your video card. But yeah i been running gears and it runs really sloppy..

    sloppy?

Which drivers are you using, and did you set your system to Max Performance (rather than balance or power saving mode)?

Do a 3DMark06 and post your score... its a good indicator of this.

    are you using dial up?

if so, then make sure to leave your notebook on somewhere cool and safe.

    Yeah, that one will due.

I hope you are using a Download Manger (like GetRight, FlashGet), so that you can resume downloads if you ever get disconnected.

your notebook should hit around 3300-3500... which should be fine.
