I know the Geforce 8800M GTX is a new card, but like all hardware, prices reduce.... and so is there a possibility that we could see it's prices on the sager's and xoticpc site drop anytime soon ?
It's already a bit TOO expensive over and above the 8700...

I doubt prices will come down too much until there is a higher-end model

That 9 series doesn't exist yet nor it will for quite some time. nVidia is not stupid. They will not release a better mobile version after just a few months. Think about it.

Probably so. The price will go down, but not right now.

How about the price of NP5793? The newer version will have HDMI and e-SATA. I was considering pulling the trigger on NP5793, but I think I can wait a few months for those features. If they drop the price on NP5793, that's a different story. :)

Thats just the trick though isnt it?
you can sit around waiting for the next big thing because "its just around the corner"
and with release delays and the like you end up waiting quite a long time before you know it.

In my mind the time to upgrade is when your current system doesnt quite cut it anymore.
My x1400 slows down too much on HalfLife2 ep2 (big battles near the end)
and it crashes on team fortress 2 which is down to the whole hypermemory thing.

I decided I wanted to actually play FEAR and Crysis and UT3, so I got the best I could afford right now.

e-sata is great and all, but I wouldnt rely on an external drive to do Raid0 so USB2 hdd's are fast enough for me :)
