Are there any faster blu-ray writing internal laptop drives coming out soon that will fir in the 9262?

no, there will not any other faster blu ray drives coming out anytime soon. get it if u want or u can get a 200 dollar standalone if ur purpose is to hdmi to tv to watch BD movies. i doubt that anyone would need burn capability of BD.

I am of the opinion that you don't need it now.

Unless you are going to use BR disks, you won`t need it. Chances are that prices will drop in the future.

I wouldn't hold high hopes for a faster BD drive in the near future... notebooks have had the same speed DVDR drives for a long time now... much slower than their desktop counter parts. Eh, sometimes wishes come true though!

I went 'highest end' with the 9262 I just purchased.
However, I did NOT get the BD drive. As stated above, unless you are going to burn your own BD disks, you have no need of it. It would be a waste to use a 17" screen for highdef, and if you need a player, get the PS3, it is still the best BD player out there (if you don't need upscaling).

    Chris.

I already have 2 panasonic BD30 blu-ray players......I was just thinking it would be cool to be able to use it on vacation to foreign countries where the tv sucks......... just don't really want to get it now if there's going to be a faster drive coming out soon.
