I'm reading every thread in this forum and I can't hold out any longer, I think i'm ready to buy me a malibal. Got $1,800 to blow on it, but the only thing that is making me resist is the chance there might be something new coming out from clevo, like a new chassis.

So guys, is this the time to buy?

Just curious. What makes you think there's a new chassis around the corner? Any sources?

Unless you mean the dual gpu beast that could be around sooner.

Even then, I have my doubts a dual GPU machine would fit in the stated budget...

Just curious, but why Malibal? From what I've read in these forums they haven't been very reliable recently.

i can't even see their forums, lol. but from what i've read they have a great product, at a great price, and amazing customer service. plus i like the look of their chassis better than sager's. it looks more sleek and slimmer for some reason.

i thought as much, i've heard great things about their customer service

I have had decent dealings with malibal. They are ok.

Usually, you don't hear from the 99% of people without issues...but it is that 1% that are very vocal and will try and get everyone to listen...that is human nature and applies to just about everything

I ordered the P170EM with the GTX680M. Still waiting, in production now, but they have responded very quick (10 to 30 minutes usually) to my emails with answers like "will go into production tomorrow", etc. So far so good.

Malibal also likes to surprise people with quick shipping times as if Las Vegas was close to New York (where I live). Lol. They're sending me my new LCD panel as soon as I paid the difference via PayPal. They don't slack off, that's for sure.

Well that's a pleasant surprise, until now I really hadn't read many positive things about them on this forum.

Not only have I heard unpleasant things about them, I've SEEN unpleasantness by them on this forum by their representatives. Anything that has to do with Malibal in any shape or form (unimportant stuff, like are they a reseller or a distributor .etc) turns into a red alert catastrophe for them and lawsuits are threatened with a really dry and rude attitude towards customers and the forum as a whole. It's borderline amusing how they deal with everything Malibal like a national security classified Top Secret issue.

I don't care if I'm being unreasonable as a customer, getting semi-flamed and treated with such arrogance is not my idea of who I want to give my money to.

I opted for Powernotebooks, because their rep was willing to exchange no less than 15 e-mails with me that was just basically me asking questions like the one this thread revolves around.

I did my Malibal research and I personally think they should suffer for their attitude a little and get dragged through the mud a bit more before they're let off the hook, specially the guy who's supposed to be their head customer service guy. I think he even got banned from here for a bit.

    /rant

P.S: This does not preclude from them selling good laptops for a good price delivered on time, although I've also read a few threads in the feedback section about how when things DON'T go that way, the reps act as if you're being a naggy b**ch with little more than condolence to offer (and sometimes not even that).

Same here. They have been nothing short of outstanding for me as far as customer service and support, and their pricing was superb as well. I wish they had the ability to do their own custom BIOS like Mythlogic or Alienware, but that is for another thread.
