My question is that i have about 1560 to workwith including shipping of 40$

What is the battery life difference of about 1 watt on teh 500gb 7200 hdd vs 320 7200 gb gdd
Which is the best for games and battery life 500gb 5400, 500gb 7200, 320gb 7200

Batterylife on power saver, and on normal stock.

I have spent 35 minutes talking to a xotic pc rep i can post the transcript if you want.

is the standard warranty good?, they said overclocking and undervolting wont void the warranty.

should i upgrade the processor to 2.66 instead of gettign the 500gb hdd

I had installed a 500GB 7200.4 in my previous HP and had no problems at all. Pretty fast rating in HDtune too, like 80 MB/sec?

wondering how did it affect your battery life going to the 500gb?

Do you think that the upgrade to 500gb hdd is better than 320 gb and and upgrade to a 2.66ghz processor from 2.53

Unless capacity is a concern, I'd choose the 250 or 320GB 7200 RPM drive, and 2.53 P8700. +133mhz alone will not make much difference. Now if you take the 250GB 7200 RPM HDD, perhaps you could get a 2.8ghz 9700, which has 6MB cache.

Its minimally padded on all sides, its thin, and once you put the laptop in, theres only room left for the ac adapator. The only reason i'd use it, is because i have nothing else atm.

Mine just arrived the other day.
I'd say it's fairly nice drake333... to be taken with a grain of salt though since I am a first-time laptop owner who is very much "no thrills".
There's a shoulder strap as well (it's tucked inside the front pouch)
    (sorry for poor picture quality)

hey THANK you soo much. really. This saved me 20 dollars on buying a sleeve to cover the laptop then put it in my army bag. im thinking this will do fine as a sleeve..as a bag on its own it looks too thin but in my army bag it should be fine. I love saving money, now i can play poker and not worry about money.

How is the heating? im not sure if i should get a cooler since i will be moving to new york and winter will be cold.

Hi i thought ill post here for some help
Im thinking of changeing my choice from the m17x to the more mobile 15.6inh Np8662. My question is since the 280m gtx is compatible with this model:

1.is it stable if put into this system(ie heat while gaming)
2.Is swapping the card easy. 3.any idea what a 280m would cost or where I can buy one?
    thanks for the help.
(my other option is the Np5797 but 17inch so im trying to avoid it)

@drake heating is not an issue for general use, but if you plan on long periods of gaming or OC-ing a cooler may be a wise investment. I don't think being in New York will change much (Alaska maybe), I'm in Toronto and still have a Zalman NC-2000 on the way just to be on the safe side.

@nielo, I don't think the 280m is compatible; it uses MXM 3.0, whereas the NP8662/M860ETU uses 2.1 type 3. Other than that I've heard swapping cards on the M860 isn't too much trouble.
    edit: disregard, see below

Many times. But while the 260m is absolutely no problem for the 860, 280m runs a bit hotter and so a cooler is definitely advisable.

And a little bit of elbow grease. If the GTX 280M gets too hot for you, you can always downclock it to GTX 260M clocks and still have the additional 16 shaders.

Emailed rj-tech to see if they can do it. Install a 280m in the np8662.

They aren't going to install it for you as it will void the warranty on your notebook. RJTech will not honor the notebook warranty with a card that isn't officially supported. But they can sell you the GTX 280M along with your M860TU and GTX 260M. Just don't tell them you will be putting it in the notebook.

In a few weeks even I'll probably buy the NP8662. What is the battery life like when the laptop is in normal use. i.e browsing while music is playing?

The GTX260M is a very powerful card, runs (41C idle) cool and can be over clocked to the 280M levels I would imagine. I would just go with the GTX 260m and over clock.
