So i am pretty close to choosing my laptop that i will order in a day or so. Im thinking of just sticking with the stock screen on the p170hm/NP8170

How do you guys like your glossy screens if you have one? Do you have any problems with reflections in the confines of your home? Ive been using a matte screen for several years now and have never had a laptop with a glossy.

Lastly im trying to decide if i should invest in the 0 dead pixel policy. I dont know what the chance is of getting dead pixels and am worried about having some on my screen and it driving me crazy.
Do any of you guys have them on your screens and if so do they bother you at all?

I have the 95% Matte screen and there is no dead pixel, at least so far. You can always return your laptop if there is a dead pixels (you have to pay shipping back) instead of getting the 30 day dead pixel warrantly.

But if I were you, I wouldn't worry about it.

Is the matte or glossy better? I dont thinK I can get the matte either way but yeah. I order a P170 with a 6990m so I don't think its matte compatible.

Glossy or Matte comes down to mostly personal opinion. Here are some links for comparison:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/sag...-between-different-screen-options-photos.html

I prefer glossy because I've always used one and feel the colors are a little more vibrant. Lots of others here swear by the Matte screens though.

As for P170 with the matte, it is compatible (and offered in a 120hz model as well). Some are offering it as a free upgrade for labor day.

IMO matte screen with a high percentage color gamut are the way to go. They are easier on the eyes, much broader in places you can comfortably see them and they are much more adept for coding and lots of reading. As some of the previous posters said, it is personal preference, and I agree the pixel perfect guarantee is a good deal at all of the vendors. The factories that make these screens have their own criteria for returns which, in some cases, will not pass the pixel perfect warranty criteria at the vendor. This all but assures you that you are going to get a perfect screen for the money.
