I dont know if this new but I just noticed on the base configuration for the Dell xps M1710 now has the option for a 512MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ Go 7950 GTX .
Is this something Sager/clevo will offering for the 5760 anytime soon??????
    Thanks for the help !

    ..or the 9xxx series ?

Now the 7950 would be worthy upgrade from my 7800gtx instead of the 7900gtx.

i spoke with powernotebook.com and according to them, the 7900 GTX is on backorder at SAGER, due to arrive at the end of the month ALONG with the 7950 GTX. no definite date yet and i keep waiting for my 5760... :(

no price point set yet, but PN told me that hopefully they will have some specifics early next week.

I just ordered a fully loaded 5760 2 days ago. I was billed but no one told me about a backorder. I even specifically asked Ron if all the parts were available and he said yes. Or did i just ask about the 7900GTX. I cant remember. Anyway, I wonder if I'm going put on hold due to the backorder? I also wonder if i might be able to finagle the 9750 if I am put on hold. Who is the guy in this forum that works there? Paladin44? Wonder if he knows anything?

Edit: For bad language. Dang Navy toungue... Gets me in trouble all the time.

What Ron told you 3 days ago was accurate at that time.

Sager just called us yesterday and said that the 7900 video cards are on back order until the end of the month.

nVidia officially released the 7950 on Thursday but it won’t be available for shipping until the end of the month as well. Sager is working on seeing about giving a possible upgrade to existing orders or discounting the 7900 if customers want to wait. That pricing isn’t finalized yet and they don’t know what kind of deals can be worked out.

Sager anticipates giving us an answer within a couple days regarding any discounts or possible upgrades.

Oh, and if you haven't noticed people don't usually use potty words in this forum. :)

Oh, right. Sorry about that. Didnt think about that while i was typing. Ill edit my post to remove it. Yea, I talked to Ron again today and i guess it was a big surprise to you guys. Thanks for the update Paladin44.

BTW, Is the 7950 a marked improvement over the 7900? Is it worth the wait or could i possibly upgrade the video card later? I dont know much about upgrades for laptops so im not sure if that is possible.

from what i've read the 7950 is just an overclocked 7900, so it's probably not worth the upgrade

I came to the same conclusion after looking at the specs. I told Ron to go ahead and ship the comp with the 7900. Hopefully ill have that monster in my hands later this week. Man, i cant wait! Its like christmas 2 months early!

Yeah I cant decide if I should spend the extra $ for the 7950GTX or spend that money for the T7400 (instead of the T7200 I was going to get). Either way hopefully the delays will not effect me from getting it around the begining of December

We rarely recommend getting the T7400. When you already have 2,000MHz an additional 160MHz is not going to show you any real improvement in performance and is usually a waste of money.

Whether spending $100 for the upgrade to the 7950 is up to you...if you want the fastest then go for it, but as others have said here you probably won't be able to notice much if any difference.

i passed on the 7950, to me it was like going 125 mph on my snowmobile or going 127 mph. they are both fast as hell and it only mattered when someone shows up with a built mach z. ;)

ron from PN was great, i actually had ordered through SAGER but cancelled it due to the apparent problems with the english language that their customer service had. i could never get a straight or completely understandable answer on availability from them. i had heard great things about PN and would most definitely recommend them to anyone. ron either called me or emailed me on the parts availability and status pretty much every other day or whenever i inquired.

i did go with the 7400 but only because a buddy of mine had the 7200. it's one of those things, i guess.

so far, i LOVE this thing. though you better have good vision with the 1920 x 1200 resolution. it's crisp, but it's tiny.

Hey thanks for the info about Powernotebooks. They seem to have a great customer service track record with fellow forum members here.
I am thinking of getting the WSXGA+ screen just because I am worried about frame rates when gaming with everything turned up high. I think I am going with 7950gtx and maybe evently drop a faster C2D in it later on down the line but hopefully the T7200 will be sufficent for a while.

ranxerox did you go with a 5400 Hard drive or a 7200 rpm drive . I wondering if I will see that much of a difference?

    7200 RPM is definitely noticeable.

I have 2 HDDs for my notebook. My 120GB HDD is only 5400 rpm, it actually takes about 20% more time to load a game than my other 100GB 7200 rpm HDD.

So I use my 120GB for Windows and Data, and my 100GB for gaming. :D

I went with the 7200rpm HDs (2), the T7600 and max ram. I settled for the 7900 thou because i couldnt wait till the middle of November(at the soonest) for the laptop. My current laptop is showing its age rather more lately.

i went with the 7200 rpm drive. after going from 5400 to 7200 on my desktop, i loaded maps much faster in bf42 and bf2. going from 7200 to 10,000 on twin raptors, it was even faster. so, i wanted the fasted drive available in my laptop to go with the 2 gigs of ram. it was more important to me than cpu speed.

right now i am playing with screen resolutions in bf2. the widescreen throws everything off a bit but i'm still testing.

no dead pixels, beautiful machine...it's worth every penny and i saved a few of those by getting it from PN, rather than SAGER directly...go figure!

Yup, not only cheaper but you also get 24/7 Customer Service when you buy from PN...you won't get that from Sager :)
