I am looking to purchase a new sager laptop in Mid October, probably October 15 will be the purchase date, and I am looking for suggestions on where to buy. I have done a lot of research on features and the Sager's so now it is just choosing a retailer. Any advice is appreciated.

Also which shops give the most competitive pricing? Who takes care of forum members the best? Which retailers are the most responsive?

    Thanks.

A good way to see a company's responsiveness or how they take care of customers is to check out the BBB or ResellerRatings. Those are good tools to use to review any specific company. As for pricing it is best to contact several and review pricing. Make sure you advise that you are a NBR member as many sellers have additional discounts for NBR members. :)

The usual suspects are Malibal, XoticPC, Mythlogic, LPC-Digital. Contact each and see who offers you the best deal.

Thank you Justin. I appreciate retailers who don't just sell themselves.

Regardless of where you buy (which most resellers will price match) we're all here to help each other out. So if you have any questions or troubleshooting to do you can always ask here first.

I loved my Mythlogic experience so much, and will buy again in 4-5 years from them. However, I am sure any Clevo or Sager reseller who talks on here is a good choice

XoticPC and Malibal has the exact price on the 8150 I want almost to the penny. Malibal provides a free standard carrying case while XoticPC does not. Can anyone comment on the quality of the case? Thanks.

The case is nothing special, just a normal laptop bag with a shoulder strap. I have a laptop compartment in my backpack so my case has never gotten any use.

If the case is anything like the free one they provide with the 8170 I got from them, then I'd say it's good. Enough room for the 17.3" beast, and 2 other compartments inside the main part, 1 thin and good for my touch tablet PC, and the other a bit thicker which is fine for plenty of papers. Then, the smaller part has enough room for the massive power brick and a few other odds and ends, like some headphones, and an external mouse. But then it is full.

There is a shoulder strap with a pad for comfort, and the 2 handles can be buttoned together. I did like the way my old case with my older laptop (Sager NP 9750) unzipped the main part completely so I could set the laptop down, whereas the Malibal case only zips across the top (where the handles are) and down the sides only 25% down; so that means the laptop needs to be slid in, which makes me worry that the rubber feet might come off after a lot of use (happened to me with a different laptop (17" HP) being constantly slid into and out of a laptop backpack)

    Hope that helps :)

I bought from Mythlogic as they had the screen in stock that I wanted. Easy to work with and helped me troubleshoot an issue that came up due to a printer driver.

Xotic and Malibal were also very helpful and responsive when I made inquiries. I also think the Malibal rep added some suggestions to my troubleshooting thread as well, even though it wasn't his product. I don't think you can go wrong with any of the resellers that are active in this community. Every sale can make or break their reputation and these guys all work hard to keep happy customers.
