I was going to get a sager 2090, and it came out to 1600$. But like everyone i have my doubts about buying a laptop from an online reseller.
My other choice is the Asus G1S-A1.. more exact
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834220182
For 1720$.
Sure there is a 120$ price difference but i feel asus tech support is better. Asus should also more reliable than some small reseller (not naming names).
Can any convince me why the sager is better?

The link you provided shows a price tag of $1899

I don't think the resellers are a problem, they have excellent reputations here in the forums (which obviously can't be faked) and great scores in ResellerRatings.com, which is also a good measure of how well the store performs in terms of customer service.
If you can't afford the wait for the IFL-90, then by all means order from Newegg, which is very good in the shipping times. -
5090>>>>>>>>>g1
-
i have a buget! and i would get it for 1720 deal from a friend who works at a computer store, new.
-
what/who is the 5090? Do you mean 5790?
-
the Asus just looks better in my opinion, and its a little faster than the Sager but its also more epensive. But if you can get the warranty from the friend who your getting it from, then its a good deal.
-
Actually if you get it for 1720, it may be even cheaper because you actually getting the logitech mouse and backpack that come with it, so minus the 100$ or so, and your down to 1620....i wish i could have that deal

When a Asus breaks do you have to send it overseas or do they havge support in the USA. Asus sells 2 types of laptops 1) configureable laptops 2) preconfigured laptops. Sager gets their laptops from Clevo and sells via the internet and through resellers but Sager handles all the warranty work. The reseller just sells the unit. Asus distributes to independent resellers such the same as the Sager resellers until recently when the G1 has been available Best Buy a national chain. Best Buy uses the Geek Squad to do warranty work for the pc they sell.
-
Asus has pretty good support here in the US. I have dealt with them regarding desktop motherboards in the past and they have been pretty painless.
I think most of the Sager buyers looked hard at the G1S, but went away from it for 2 reasons: 1- The looks and 2- The price. If you like the looks of it and can afford it, it seems to be a cant miss notebook as far as I'm concerned. I messed with the X1 model at Best Buy (not the same as the A1) and outside of that green on the webcam and the side lights I really liked it a lot. Its too bad Best Buy isnt offering a better price, 55 dollars off isnt worth losing the year of warranty, the processor downgrade and the bag and mouse. -
yes, I was thinking 5790. Better than G1, but more money.
Between 2090 and G1, I'd go with G1. The only real negative with G1 is that it comes only with Vista, so if you want XP, you'll have to install it yourself, after uninstalling Vista, and you'll have trouble finding drivers for XP. Although it can be done. -
If the G1 didn't have the green I'd be sold.
-
The reason that i didnt choose the G1s is the price for the components that I do not need. I would have purchased the G1s if I could have configured it with a t7300 etc etc.
-
It's easy to turn off the green blinking lights. That should not be a reason for not getting it.
-
It's not just the green lights that turn me off the design, there are other factors in it that I just plain don't like to look of.
The hinge, for one thing...it's off center and weird, and doesn't look secure. Of course this is purely speculative and such, and I'm sure I'm wrong and many G1S owners would protest, but I just don't plain like how that's done. The IFL-90 is designed nice and balanced, and seems nice on the eyes. There's also that huge black void on top of the LCD, Asus could've put more use to that space, and if it wasn't for widescreen, I think that space could easily accommodates 4:3 resolution, but of course, that's out of style nowadays. I guess I'm just a perfectionist, but I don't want to buy a laptop I'd hate to see every day just because I wanted a few hundred extra 3DMarks. -
-
Not an issue for me, but if it is for you, then you can get a 6-cell which won't stick out. Besides, for a battery that sticks out, it's not as bad as say a Lenovo or a Dell battery sticking out.
-
...I was just trying to point out that "beauty" is in the eye of the beholder...I think you acknowledged that in your first post, but I just couldn't resist.

I think im going to get the asus, just because asus is like the number motherboard manufacture. Plus sending it to taiwan isnt a problem, becuase i visit there once in a while to see my dad
.
the only thing i hate about the g1 is the battery life and heat exertion. If i was to "down clock" the graphics card to the sagers clock, would i get near 4 hours+? -
now, that would defeat its purpose
but it might work.

honestly, the asus is more expensive for the performance. As for build quality, I've never owned any of these two, so I cant compare. However, both compal and asus are known to have a good build quality. The compal IFL90 simply has a more "business-like" look.
For the price of the G1s, you should be able to get a Clevo M570ru which IMO is quite better than the G1s. However, the G1s comes with windows, a carrying bag, a mouse, and other useless stuffs.
Note: Compal IFL90 = Sager NP2090
Clevo M570ru = Sager NP5790
Good deal but should i take it?
