Hey all, new memeber here, done a load of research and was looking at ordering an M570TU from america, but then i realised that some dudes here in japan actually sell em. Then i saw the price, and it seems to be equal if not a slight bit more expensive than the US, but then minus the postage and its better right?

Heres the specs in my quote:
    P9500
320gig 5400rpm or 200gig 7400rpm (which one? ive heard some 5400s are faster, guees its pointless asking since i dont know the brands lol ill have to ask)
    9800m GTX 1gig
    dvd drive
    gigabit lan
    wireless intel 5300
    4gig crucial 1066mhz ram
nothing else i think, just the standard

    This totals at ¥245,000
Thats something like 2500 USD, maybe a little more, best i can find form US is 2400 USD plus about 150 or 180 USD postage. So looks like a good deal to me.

Question i have? Is this a decent deal first of all?
also, about the Tv tuner PCI slot, can i add one later? Is the antenna port actually there in the computer, or is it only added when you order a tv tuner with the notebook? ive never been able to find an answer for this. Also, any ideas what you can do for a sound card??? PCI mini cards any good? I personally think they are a bit expensive for that junk they do, i mena i got a HT Claro Plus for 100 AUD lol and that rocks my home theater system (canton fronts blah blah blah, too much money...)

    Cheers!

those specs look pretty good... especially for the price out of the US. :)

yes, you can add a TV Tuner card (mini-PCIe) later.... look in the User's Manual to see which kind is ready to go for the notebook.

ok so it actually has the antenna port and plug on the unit even without the card included? I have already looked at a bunch of various tv tuners that can go in them using mini pci, just wanted to know if the antenna and connecting wires are there. Where do i find the user manuals? Clevo site?

ok i checked the manual, it says that the port in `enabled` only when installing a PCI mini tuner, does that mean the port and wires are actually in the computer? i think i would assume so right? Just need to install any PCI mini Tv tuner card, and done?

also any suggestion on HDD? SHould i just get a 200gb 5400 and then upgrade it to a seagate momentus 7400rpm and sell the 200gb? Will cost a fair bit, but i still need to check what brand HDD they will use

yes all of the parts are already there in the chassis.

for HDD, the bang for the buck is 320GB 5400rpm.
    - it performs as well as a previous generation 7200rpm drive (200GB and under)
-- but it gives you more storage, and generates less heat.

Hey Gophn, how about the 250GB 7200 RPM vs 320GB 5400RPM for the same price? which one?

Also, do you know the temp difference between previous gen 200GB 7200RPM vs 320GB 5400RPM?

7200rpm drives will usually generate more heat than 5400rpm drives.

I cannot say the temp difference since every system environment is different.

using tomshardware charts, best performing 2.5inch drive by a fair margin is the seagate momentus 320gig which i can get for about $150AUD easy enough, maybe less here in japan. But im beleieve you are correct about new gen 5400rpm drives, they are similar in speed to the 200gig and sub 7200rpm drives. Thanks for all the replys
