    Hi there guys,

I exchanged my GPDWin (wasnt using it) for an P170HM. I got some parts laying around here and did some changes:

Take out 560m to 8970m only one issue, brightness not working i've done the KMD_EnableBrightnessInterface2 = 0 but that did not work either.

Changed CPU to a 2820MQ no issues.

    My questions are:
Which cards can this notebook handle?
Is there any unlocked bios for this notebook did not find one anywhere.

    Any Help is appreciated!!

HM series, 680M max on nvidia side IIRC
    "7970M 4Gb" a.k.a. 8970M on AMD side

Yeah using the 8970m right now quite good for most stuff in 1080p the only problem is the temp this card is a little hot and here in Brazil (hot country)

Heyy benny ty for the reply!! Yeah the 8970m is what i'm using right now the problem now is the brightness... nothing that i did is working that's pissing me off because this is the only thing that isn't working in the notebook using windows 10 and latest (most of them) drivers

I had a similar issue on my P870DM with UHD screen swap and also P370EM with 1070 SLI / eDP screen swap. Had to control it using nvidia control panel colour settings. Dunno if/how you'd do that on AMD drivers

Its a poor workaround though because the backlight is still sucking 100% power and isn't controllable by any other method such as hotkeys or power profile switching.

I have one script that worked for me using the p375sm and 1070 i can pm u if u want instead of fn+key it uses win+key to change brightness it works fking awesome like the way it should be (or almost)

Even tested in this notebook but doesn't work.. sometimes i think is AMD drivers that suck..

After looking around, there's no unlocked bios/ec or newer for this machine sad because it is very good and man the brightness is a pain... will try the 120Mhz screen with the DP port just to see if something changes...
