Pros:
1. came well packed--a box within a box.
2. came with a laptop case and DVI/VGA adapter. yeah!
3. I like the status lights on the deck instead of hidden on side like so other models
4. keyboard more stable than DV6
5. runs cooler when running FSX than DV6--no need to put it on a laptop cooler to keep temps reasonably cool to the touch.
6. speakers seem ever so slightly better than on the DV6, but can't find graphic equalizer in the S/W.
7. Optical drive door far easier to open than DV6
8. not loaded down with bloatware!
9.no-nonsense design. understated "elegance" perhaps?
A few nits:
1. the leading edge is so sharp it irritates my wrists--never had a laptop do that. HIGHLY IRRITATING! I may need to wear wrist guards. LOL! What WERE they thinking when they designed the deck?
2. surface of the touchpad is noisy when used--it's rough textured--sounds like a chalk board. will that smooth out over time?
QUESTION:
1. Been reading about MSI AB but still have no clue what settings to use if I want to OC the Nvidia GTX 560M. Help. please point in proper direction or give some general guidelines on that subject please. what's some safe settings? I just want to tweak a little bit for FSX. I don't do any other games at this time and likely won't in the near future as I game on PS3.
I better quit typing now--my wrists feel lacerated...
EDIT: just looked at my wrists--they have big indentations in them from the laptop edge. DAMN!

For Afterburner last time I checked it's waiting on an update for proper 560M support, you can try NvidiaInspector for the time being as it seems functional for the 560M.
About the rough touchpad texture that will smooth out, mine is already smoothed out to a much more tolerable feel and has been for a while, the palm rest area on mine is also smoothed to the touch a bit now but still looks pristine, the sharp edge also has rounded slightly more with use. -
can you post some pics of your new laptop?
-
yes i will but can u wait til the morning? it's midnite here.
-
sure no prob

What temperatures are you getting? Did you get the IC thermal compound?

Something that's helped me with the palmrest edge is sitting higher in relation to the laptop. The posture will help your arms be a bit more flat and not have to lean on the edge.

Got my 8130 today. a few comments and a question
