    I got my notebook today!

    My comments.

It's warm on the lower right.. but not hot, and not any warmer then any other computer really. I'd like to know what program people are using to check the temp.

I haven't installed anything intensive however yet.

The power brick isn't as big as it looks in the pictures, would be nice if they had something to wrap the cord around though.

The keyboard: I don't really like it. It's not that it doesn't work.. I just don't like the feel of it. Especially the space bar. The keyboard is inset from the plastic around it so it's lower... which means every time you hit the space bar, you hit the plastic that's higher than it first which is annoying, uncomfortable.. and possibly enough to irritate.

Congrats on the new beast. :)

    use HWmonitor for all temps.

RivaTuner for GPU temps while in-game.

Congratulations! Legacy! Please try to post some reviews, pictures, and videos!

If you want to see what program to use, check other reviews and just google the name of those programs to download them. I am sure someone else will be able to fill in the details for you!

    Again Congratulations!

Interesting, keep us posted! Maybe some benchmark scores, and some temps would be great to abolish some of the on-going rumors on overheating.

I've never tested a system before, so I'm not really sure what to use or how

I've run the HW Marks software and just web browsing my hard drive is staying a steady 52-53 degrees Celsius. I'm not sure how to get it to display more then just the Hard Drive temp though.

I'm really hating the keyboard on it. And for some reason when I type my cursor bounces ever so often which doesn't make any sense unless I'm shaking the table enough to move the mouse, but I don't think so.

I'm currently installing wow, was copying data from a USB drive, web browsing and file organizing and still haven't had the temp rise above 53 degrees C

As a side note.. I haven't read the manual yet.. but does anybody know off hand what he three buttons left of the power button are?

I was also pleasantly surprised to find that there are 4 USB ports, I'm sure when I first read specs they said there were only 3.

your palm might be brushing over the touchpad, which may cause that to happen.

I know, that used to happen to me depending on how high the notebook's keyboard is relative to my arms and wrist.

I've had that happen with some laptops as well, the mouse cursor jumping around and came to realize that is was part of my palm touching the touchpad while typing. There should be a way to disble the touchpad. I know my 9262 has a FN+"some other key" way to disable it. I would be surprised if the 8660 doesn't.

What's the short key for turning off the touch pad on 8660? Does anyone know?

For the 9262 it's FN+F1. Look for a key that looks like a little picture of a touchpad with a finger touching it, at least that is what it looks like on a 9262.

Sort of... I'm finding the Intel Turbo Memory Dashboard is crashing every time I try and open it.

I was able to add a number of programs, but I haven't been able to open it since then without getting an error from windows saying "Intel_robson has stopped working"

As we speak I am on the Intel website looking for new drivers for it.

About the usb port you were half right the spec advertise 3 usb port and a combo usb/e-sata, which mean that you can plug a external hard-drive on the usb port on the back that has a wierd shape. I love that feature because I believe e-sata is much faster than USB 2

Would you mind checking how tall it is?

I can answer that without ever having seen either one in person - yes, the NP8660 is smaller than the 9262.

LOL, yeah, I would have to think that a 15.4" lappy is inherently smaller than a 17" lappy (especially a 17" lappy that has 3 HDDs and 2 GPUs)

ACtually i think the 8660 is a bit thicker in the back than the 9262.
