Hi, does anyone have this issue where when the HDMI out of the Clevo will cause the monitor (currently using 60Hz, had tried changing to 50) to make certain shades of grey (no, pun unintended. Seriously! :D ) flicker whereas the DVI out does not?

This is so as my NP8170 with GTX 560M does that, only thing is that the DVI out is connected to a VGA cable using the supplied adapter then to the VGA in of the monitor.

I have tested the monitor with two other computers and confirmed no issue with the HDMI port of the monitor.

    Thanks!

This is the first I've heard of this. Does the port look damaged or dirty at all? Tried another HDMI cable already?

Nice unintentional pun, by the way. :vbwink:

I *think* I tried another HDMI cable. As for the port itself, good point, let me check

EDIT: Did all that, doesn't seem to help. What helped was the tweaking of Nvidia options (used their options instead of Windows', lowered contrast, gamma and digital vibrance)

    Let's see how this goes

And oh yeah, the pun is kinda more obvious now ;)

The monitor will have different processing for analogue input vs digital input, see if another panel does the same.

I don't have another panel to work with though and the problem didn't seem to occur since after I used the new settings

The problem returned after a while and even started to affect DVI. I have just sent back the monitor for RMA and now using the loan unit they provided me, which does not have such issues.

Looks like it is due to the monitor all along!

Thanks! Thankfully it was that, had it been the GPU all along, it would mean that I will need to buy a replacement laptop now (since getting a replacement 680M is too expensive)

One last note: The monitor came back, the repair people are also unsure why as they cannot reproduce the issue at all.

It looks like the laptop's HDMI out and the monitor's HDMI in just didn't like to play nice, so back to DVI I go

Apparently I was wrong. On a whim, I decided to reinstall Windows on another HDD and then use only the drivers from Sager's website.

No such grey flickering appeared on the drivers from Sager's website but on the latest drivers from Nvidia's website, such flickering exists

Something along the way must have added the flickering somehow

Glad that you followed up; it's something for others to look out for now.

No probs, let me see if I can confirm this, together with another more worrying but stranger graphical issue I have been having. It is quite hard to trigger though

And let's hope this is for just the HM series...

Alright, took this entire (normal, as in from waking up at normal 8am to 12pm now) morning to test with my main SSD instead of the spare HDD I mentioned earlier)

I can confirm that 364.xx onwards will cause this issue

35x.xx to 363.xx untested as I cannot get them from Nvidia's website

34x.xx drivers won't install on my laptop as the drivers don't recognise the 560M :(

332.31 works without such issues. :)

Of course, the earlier mentioned Sager drivers (268.49) works, but it may be too old for some programs.

So if anyone has this issue, use 332.31 as a workaround or just simply use DVI out instead of HDMI. Also, post here with your Sager/Clevo model number!

(Yes, there's a possibility that there are other factors but this is the most probable one I am seeing right now)

(AND yes, thanks @Meaker@Sager for the drivers idea. Didn't think through that one more carefully before...)
