Maybe with the use of prema's system bios. It being an MSI card might get in the way but you could give it a shot.

It also depends on what MSI it is in the first place. Only GT models have an MXM card slots in them (at least the current versions). If you have a GE, GS, GP, etc.. model those wouldn't have an MXM graphics card option in order to change it out.

Has MSI ever made a non MXM 980M machine?

You're right. I wasn't thinking that far in to it. All laptops that I can think of (now) are MXM with 980m. Maybe the All In One desktops, but that doesn't make sense in the context of the original question.

Thanks guys, yes is mxm I don't think they made any other version, as it happens I already have premas bios mod running, but did you mean the vbios mod?

No idea where to find this as it seems from my research that the only way to get it is when buying the card from a supplier that has use of premas mod, please correct me or point me in the right direction?

Echoing what Meaker said: Your best bet would be to get a hold of the appropriate Prema BIOS and try it. Your model never received any official support from Clevo to accommodate any of the 9xxM cards, and it being an MSI card, it's a bit of a long shot.

You can head to Prema's page for downloads, info, and to contact him if need be.

I've been wondering about this as well. Has anyone ever tried an MSI card in the full MXM machines (SM-A, ZM, DM)? Theoretically the Clevo sBIOS shouldn't need official support for cards in those machines as long as it's a standard MXM card.

If you have the two in front of you then it's worth a shot.

MSI cards don't tend to float around so much, even more so these days as less of their machines use them.

Hi guys, ok so i have just bought a P370SM-A XMG and im loving it so far, one thing that I am sure that has been discussed before is the god awful clickpad, I find it really hard to find the right click and the left click is nearly as bad!

Is there any way to adjust these pads, ie similar to the macbook? On a macbook there is a screw under the trackpad that can be adjusted?

Other than that is there any advise I can get as to how to make this better?

    Cheers

The buttons can really only be accessed by disassembling the computer; the top case has to come off (which is quite a process) to be able to do much with those buttons, and even then, they're incredibly simple in design, so not sure how much joy you can get from tinkering.

What exactly is wrong with the buttons (what do you mean by "they're hard to find")?

It's one of the few models without discrete left and right click buttons and uses an all in one pad. I am not aware personally of adjustment options. You could trace out the area that clicks and use a pen to mark the corners of the area to train yourself.

I don't believe there is any options to adjust it either, as far as I know. Some models, from any company, will have different designs in how they work and can take some getting used to. I know on my current laptop, I had to adjust where I hit the space key otherwiseitbecameajumbled mess.

I have actually tried a GTX 680M that I know to be an MSI CARD from the vbios number on the sticker on the card, alas did not work, although I am also not 100% that it is working correctly, it did show up in the device manager but whenever I try to install the drivers it just freezes.

Is there anywhere on this site I can sell my MSI GT70 0ND with gtx 680M?

Just be sure to read the requirements. There are a few on ebay, so you can join the market there.

It can still be worth it on niche items and the numbers it reaches but alternatives are nice.
