Hello, I just purchased a 1tb Intel 660p Nvme SSD to expand the storage on my laptop, which currently has a 256GB 2.5" SATA SSD.

I'm currently debating whether it's worth the effort of making my new drive the C: drive. I know this should provide some extra speed, but wondering how big a difference it will really make in terms of boot times, general computer operations etc? If the difference is not too big, I may just go with the simplest option of leaving the Nvme drive as the secondary drive, and just using it for games and photo editing.

If I do decide to make the Nvme the boot drive, I think I'll probably go the cloning with 3rd party software route. However if someone thinks cloning is a bad idea please do let me know. I'd also appreciate any recommendations for the best freeware cloning software.

I presume once cloning is complete I will have to try change the boot priority to the Nvme drive in the BIOS? Would I have to remove the 256gb drive the first time I boot up after cloning, or can I leave both in for this step and simply set boot priority in the BIOS? I ask because I'd rather minimize the number of times I'm having to open up the back cover of the laptop.

    Thanks for any help.
