So I have asked about this before but.... my HD is now consistently getting up to 59'C 60'C when gaming. When I just am doing nothing its in the 50's.

the rest of my components stay nice and cool, but my HD is just getting to hot, my hand sweats!

I just bought a NC-2000 to replace my Antec Laptop cooler, so I am hoping that helps, but if it doesn't what should I do? Its my understanding that 60C is to hot for a HD.....

Also not sure if its related, but recently I can hear a odd, very subtle noise from one of my fans inside, its almost like its loose inside or something. Its nearly impossible to hear but if you listen real close I can hear it, like a subtle clicking noise idk. hard to describe.

    oh its a 200GB 7,200rpm...

    Hi.

It`s winter here in the UK, I have just got up and the temp in my room is 10c according to my digital wall thermometer.

I started my Notebook and as soon as the Desktop loaded i ran Hdtune and it said my HD temp was 10c also, So i can be reasonably certain that my hdd is giving the correct temperate readings.

If you do as i did, you should be able to tell if your hdd`s temp readings are accurate, but your notebook needs to be turned of for an hour or two, so it`s at room temperature.

    Regards

    John.

doesn't matter what temp it is in inside it always gets up to around 60C after a few hours of gaming... whether I am shivering, or sitting in my undies.

    Hi.

what i mean is that you can check your hdd temperature sensor is giving the correct reading by quickly checking the temp after it has been switched on.

If the room is 20c and the notebook has been off for a few hours the hdd temp will be 20c , so when you switch it on and quickly check the temp see how close it is to your room temperature.

If there is a large difference it`s likely the sensor is faulty.

    Regards

    John.

65c is when it gets critical and there could be a fault.

You should come stand by the window in the kitchen that's just decided to let go one of its moorings - string keeps the frame from falling to the ground 5 stories below, but doesn't keep that draft out!
