Hey guys, the DVI Signal to my Samsung is great. But the HDMI is not. At frst I would have to decrease the Sharpness on my Samsung from 100 to 0 to have at least have an "OK" picture.

Still the fonts look so bad, like someone turned anti aliasing off. I thought I could change that with TrueType but I dont get any good results with HDMI.

Thats soconfusing since I thought, wow HDMI, I can do Audio and Video without any trouble.

I have a Samsung LN40B750 so I might be able to help. Try this troubleshooting:

    1. Press Source on your TV remote
    2. Highlight the HDMI port your comp is connected to.
    3. Press the tools button on the TV remote
    4. "Edit Name" should be selected automatically, so just press the enter key on the TV remote (the box with a right angle arrow)
    5. The HDMI input connected to your comp should be highlighted automatically, so just press enter again.
    6. Highlight "PC" and press enter.
    7. Press exit.
    7. Let me know if this fixed the issue.

INFO: changing the source name lets the TV know what kind of signal input it should be expecting. You will notice there is large selection for every type of device you may connect to it. This is the reason for the TV having so many HDMI ports, as you can have each port programmed to a specific type of input, so you don't have to keep swapping ports and changing the source type (I don't know why they call it "source name", I guess that's what happens when you translate to engirsh.)

That is amazing mate!!! Well I think it will be... I just returned my laptop and waiting for it to be back in 3 days or so. Some problems with fan and so.

ill try it out then.... I never looked into it simply coz i was expecting it to just have the function to rename the inputs.

I also encountered another problem. When I connected my laptop via HDMI the brightness setting on the TFT is too high, at about 45 or so.

i corrected it down to 35 which worked fine.

The problem now is, when i switch between tv and hdmi (or simply turn the screen on and off) the brightness is a lot higher again although the brightness is still set to 35.

When I reduce or raise brightness by just one point the brightness is correct again.

It seems like the Screen saves the digit but not the actual brightness setting?

Lol, that is weird, did the source name solution at least work?

Yeah, that is definitely something you should speak directly to Samsung about.

    Hi,

I bought a P2470HD one week ago and I got crazy connecting it to my PC using a DVI-HDMI cable (with DVI on PC side).

Colors and fonts were awful, very difficult to read something.

After browsing the Internet to find a solution, I saw this wonderful post and I have just one thing to say : Thank you hyperbolic !

Hope it can help other people getting crazy with this unbelievable setting.
