Isn't there an HDMI input on the previous Sager 18" model, the NP8120?

And it is discontinued for the NP8180? Anyone know why?

It seems to be a feature that isn't being included in any of the newer Clevo models. You'd have to check with them though, as I can't imagine why it would be removed (other than possibly cost or limited appeal).

NP8180 (Clevo P180HM) does not have a HDMI input.

Probably because of limited appeal. I think most users would rather think about connecting the NP8180 to a bigger external monitor (I do it occasionally) rather than using the notebook as monitor for other devices.

I totally understand that, and I do plan on using mine with a 22 or 24" LCD when I can as well but you could do that with the last model too. It's not like they added something in its place.

That size of a screen would certainly be better than nothing when I take my laptop and ps3 with me on vacation, work trips, etc....it would be awesome to use the one halfway decent sized screen for both. Lots of people probably game on a 19" LCD which is what this ends up being.
I guess I will have to live without one, even though AW has one on both their 17 and 18" models.

Any chance they would bring it back for the next model? Doubtful I suppose...but it's free to dream.

Did the older model really have all the other many input/output slots which the NP8180 does have?

Here is a screenshot of the NP8180 slots:

Indeed. I think I wouldn't buy a notebook without expresscard slot. If a new norm of input/output slots comes into the market in 1-2 years, you most likely will be able to use it on your old notebook via expresscard. And also if you have an old device e.g. with parallel port you could connect it easily with the notebook via expresscard. This of course would also work somehow via an USB adapter solution, but in my experience expresscards are more reliable for this kind of things.
