Hello guys, I know that my X7200 has the option for a HDMI-in port, but mine came without (like most, I guess).

I really would like to play a few console-exclusive games using my laptop screen cause it's a great screen and I don't want to buy a monitor.

Does anybody know where it's possible to buy the HDMI-in attachment and if it's something that can be mounted by the user? (I have some experience with these things, for example I swapped the laptop screen by myself, so I'm not a complete noob)

PS: the company where I bought the laptop from, Kobalt Computers, no longer exists, so I can't contact them for this.

I don't believe it's possible to just add that feature in if you don't already have it. You should probably look for a video capture card if you want video input.

I cannot find it, but if you could search through this forum, I swear this is a post that the HDMI-In option requires either a different SMB or the same SMB w/ a soldered on HDMI input card. Regardless either of these options need to be done at the time of purchase.

If my memory is correct, perhaps you could find the SMB for sale somewhere and swap them yourself. You also may want to check the other Sager resellers or Clevo Builders to see if they have any of these SMBs in stock.

Hey, I responded to your cross post in the owner lounge. But basically new motherboard and the HDMI in card is what you need (both). So at least 500ish probably for the swap.

Hi mythlogic, sorry I didn't check that thread again. Hmm.. seems like getting this HDMI-in upgrade is not much cheaper than buying an actual monitor.. Too bad, I thought it could have been something similar to when I swapped the LCD screen. Thanks.

No, I didn't mean System Mgt Bus nor Server Message Block.

Too many acronyms. In this case, you can pick from this list:
    • System Mother Board
    • System Main Board
    • Standard Mother Board

From now on, I'll just start calling them "mobo".
    :)

Ahah, well, I have always seen it shortened as MB, so I thought SMB was something else. I'm glad my username says "ignorant". Anyway, thanks :)
