Which presents a better performance HDD?

    Thanks.

    very interesting.
im not a specialist but looking at the graph i would say the WD but looking at the readings i would say the seagate. BUT look at the HD temps.
ok the seagate cpu usage is only 2.5% compared to WD 6.3% but in real time is there much difference. maybe 1-2 seconds faster loading time.

i know which id prefer. WD all the way cos 51c compared to 59c HD is a lot.

heres mine. ill add another scan when im upto full temperature.

    Thanks.

I'm planning on buying a NP8690 and I want the best performing HDD. XoticPC has either Seagate, WD, or Hitachi.

I hope you guys can give me insights on this, thanks :)

Damn, and I though seagates were cooler.. But the seagate own the WD in performance. And since the W8690 probably has better hdd cooling, I would say 7200.4. Has anyone tested the hdd temps in the new Clevo?

For best performance buy a SSD.
If it's in your budget ;)
I'll say this much, given SSD's are really expensive they are awesome :D
Price is creeping down and on Ebay you can find great deals
Got a brand new OCZ Vertex 120GB for $250, I know that's still not cheap but to me the performance gain is well worth it.

I still can't afford SSD's though. I agree with the price to performance ratio of SSD's but I would rather go for a bigger storage ;)

So it's either Seagate, WD, or Hitachi.

Is Burst rate that important in HDDs? I've noticed that the WD has twice as much burst rate than the Seagate. What's causing that?

If you guys can post your HDTune benchmarks I would appreciate it very much :)

or if someone could finaly explain what all the readings ACTUALLY mean.
there has been so many posts over the years saying this is better and that is better but no one has actually explained what they stand for.
cpu usage is obvious but what is burst rate compared to transfer rate.
will there be much difference from the free version compaired to the pro version.

Agreed :) I hope knowledgeable people can explain each parameter of HDTune benchmark.
