Just installed the Samsung 840 Pro 512 GB.
First issue: am I supposed to find something to shim the thickness of the SSD so that it equals the thickness of the HDD I removed from the drive bay?
After installing, I booted from the Windows install disc that came with the Sager. After it loaded windows to the SSD, I installed the Magician software and set up some of the parameters as best I could. Then I noticed I couldn't get on line. Device manager shows cautions for many items because no drivers are installed. Not only can I not use wireless, I can't even use the LAN card. I couldn't use a USB driver either.
My PARTIAL solution to the above was to go to another PC and download a slew of Sager 8130 drivers from the sager site and burn them to a DVD which is one of the few devices the Sager will read with the new SSD installed.
Now for my confusion: when I opt to install the various drivers the installation process defaults to the DVD drive so I have been picking the Program Files folder. I "installed" several of the packages but realized all that was happening was I was mostly just copying the files to the Progam Files folder so I went into the various subfolders that were created and I looked for SETUP files. By doing that I got the Nvidia driver to install just fine, but I'm having no luck getting the LAN driver to work as well as wireless but I'm so buried in this problem I may not have even loaded that driver from the DVD yet what which all the more pressing issues like no LAN card function.
Also, I still see a caution symbol in Device Mgr for USB but my ext USB drive actually works now despite seeing the caution,.
I guess my primary question is what is the procedure for loading critical drivers following the installation of Windows 7 64bit. Do I have to follow slightly different methods for each driver depending on what it is for? ie, does the LAN driver require that I place it elsewhere? I am so lost!
EDIT: Does the magician software take care of setting up TRIM if I run the optimization function? Or is there a way to set up Win 7 easily to do that. If "yes" to both, is the magician optimization adequate and i don't need to worry about TRIM setting within Win 7?
EDIT: I just read part of the "manual" that is available for download from sager drivers site. It mentions that there is a disk with drivers on it. I just rummaged through my junk and found a drivers disk from Sager!! hopefully that will get me going. will report back later on progress.

UPDATE: I got online with the Sager, as I was able to successfully install the Intel Pro Set drivers along with all the other drivers with the exception of 3 or 4 of the first drivers listed on the "Optional Drivers" tab of the installation program. The Web Cam driver choice gives an error about the device not being installed on the system. No idea what to do about that one.
If I want to be sure that I have all the latest drivers how do I go about that as I still don't know how to properly install driver pkgs downloaded from the sager site, as I stated in my earlier post. I'm pretty sure there are lots of items I installed from the included disk that have been replaced with newer versions which would be on the Sager site. Just don't know how to go about it.
EDIT: webcam issue fixed after much teeth gnashing. seems I'd hit Fn-F10...sigh. -
