Hi guys computer cut out last night and at first I thought I had unplugged the power lead with my foot. The power lead was still in so I tried to reboot and when it didnt turn on I thought it had just overheated.

When I woke up this morning it wont turn on and when I plug the power lead in, the blue power light just flashes.

I have tried holding the button down to refresh but no luck. Any Ideas ?

    Many Thanks in advance.

P.S I live in the UK so if anyone knows of anyone who could repair or sells Sagers I would love to know.

Can't answer your technical question, but if you need repairs, here would be the best place to start.

try removing power lead and battery then hold power button down for 20-30 seconds. if that doesnt help you might need to remove the cmos battery to reset it but i have no idea where it is located in the 8690.

do you lleave your battery connected all the time and if so what sort of % charge was it holding.

is there a light on the psu when its plugged in and does it get warm still.
could be a number of things but we will try to help.

i have a couple of service centres but cant link to them until i get home this evening.

Cheers for your replys guys, I was told by Soviet Sunrise that leaving the battery in while pluged into the mains isnt a problem, so yes :S Usually I wouldnt have done.

The battery on the laptop its self cant have been very high cos it doesnt hold alot of charge these days :( (last time i listen to him).

Dont know if it gets warm as havent had much time to play around with it, and cant remeber if the PSU light was on although I power was working as the light was flashing and so were the illuminations above the keyboard.

    Thanks again.

the battery arguments will go back and forward until the end of time.
all i know is my m860tu battery only had 20%ish charge after 11 months as i always left it connected when on mains. it was luckily replaced by warranty and the one i have now is 3 years old. i remove it when i know it will be on mains for long periods of time and it still has 98% charge so i dont care how many people tell me it wont affect it leaving it connected i will still remove it.

Thanks man I'll check them out once I get it diagnosed. Removed the battery and tried bootig, nothing! Then plugged the power supply into the mains on it's own, green light appears and hasn't got hot at all in the last 10min. If I plug it into my laptop the green light on the power supply pulses :-s

    Any ideas

im no expert when it comes to psu's but that could be a dodgy brick.
hopefully someone else will be able to advise better than me.
