(w870cu/NP8760)This is the second time this has happened. First time it just went away after a couple of days. (last year)
the MOUSE touchpad doesn't work at all
And the keyboard works but doesn't type properly, you have to type very slowly to get it to type, also if you hold down a certain key it will not repeat the keystroke like normal. Backspace nightmare.
Another thing that might not be related, the shortcut touch keys (email web etc) aren't lighting up.
This is not a software/driver problems (tested) and in BIOS/Setup same occurs with the arrow keys, very laggy.
Also I have checked the keyboard/keyboard ribbon everything seems fine apart from a couple of little rust marks on the back of the keyboard(Never spilled anything on it)
Times are hard and as always, help greatly appreciated.

So it just started happening randomly, without anything changing from you, right?
This puts my leanings towards:
Ask your reseller for a BIOS update, to guarantee something isn't goofy in this area that's currently out of your control, OR otherwise, there's a chance of a physical defect, and even though times are tough, there will be a fee you'll run into to either shipping it back for service (so they can swap keyboard/mouse you), or you take a leap of faith and purchase at least the keyboard for starters and see what happens.
It'd be less feasible I'm guessing to do any mouse swap since, it's built in to the chassis, right? However, if the keyboard has something wrong with it, who knows, maybe it can be related to the mouse getting jammed up too.
This makes me think of one last thing to test: Have you tried disconnecting the mouse OR the keyboard and seen what goes on with the other integrated device at that point?
What happens with external peripherals? Do they exhibit lag/malfunction also? -
usb works (keyboard and mouse)
If I do get a new keyboard, how wil that fix the mouse issue, because when it stopped working, both stopped working at the same time. Are the two interlinked? -
If both stopped working at the same time,
it sounds like your board might be broken.
EC firmware should do the trick + the BIOS update /
if they don't work, I would assume it is a hardware problem. -
EDIT: So let me know when you disconnect the mouse ribbon if the keyboard behaves normally AND when you disconnect the keyboard if the mouse behaves normally. -
Just tried updates bios and ec, no change.
I will be taking it apart, disconnecting and reconnecting. Tomorrow
Thanks for all suggestions all are extremely appreciated. -

Well I took it apart,
disconnected keyboard; mouse still didn't work.
disconnected mouse; keyboard still lagged.
Although after putting everything back I booted up, and mouse worked, but keyboard was still very laggy, like before. But after I rebooted again , mouse stopped working.
I did notice that one connector was broken(They must of left it broken after I sent it back to get it fixed with Clevo, there were some cosmetic issues: overheated and couldn't open screen)
This is the connector that is broken, and does anybody know where I could get one from to fix it?
-
My laptop has a setting that when I plug in a USB mouse it would disable the trackpad, and even when I don't plug in a mouse it still gets disabled.
To fix this I would open and close the monitor and it'd seem to refresh the setting so the trackpad worked again. Or else I'd go into the trackpad settings and disable and re-enable the disable while mouse is plugged in button and apply settings.
Hope that helps your trackpad.
As for keyboard, I'm not sure. Most likely do to the broken wires I'm guessing.
Good luck! -
Hmmm, what a pickle.
It didn't change immediately with physical manipulation to easily make us think it was hardware, a pinched wire, or similar...
And a portion of it changed with rebooting... eww.
Last thing I have for you before spending money on replacement parts / sending in for warranty, is just open it up at much as you're comfortable, double checking for pinched wires, and blow it out to make sure no foreign metal piece of something got in there / moved around and is causing a small short.
On your connector, from what I see in the picture, that's going to be tough to find. I don't even know what to call it. Start google searching the best you can. It might be possible to just stuff the pins back into the connector and apply solder to get them to stick. If you don't have a pin-pusher (and some aren't designed to be removed once inserted) you might break the connector by trying to slide them out.... so just see if you can solder sideways.
Regardless, I don't think this connector isn't related to the keyboard. -
The broken connector, reading the manual it only seems to be the logo led left and right, my version doesn't even have a logo on it, in that particular place, so basically it was just lighting up nothing, great design(ha).
As to it being a pinched wire, I was leaning toward that, but that would mean stripping it down to the bare board and checking it that way.
As always dismantling is easy putting back together is hardest especially when the service manual only helps you as far as the keyboard, and even that is missing a few parts to the process.
It will be hard to buy again clevo after this. -
I hear ya. Post back if you get any further... I think you just got stuck with some bad luck, Daffy...
Maybe instead of Daffy, you should change your name to DonaldOnLSD:
