It must be utilizing just two cores... ?! Maybe you have to optimize it for all 4 cores ??

i made sure it was 4

    but I downlloaded 1.55 and I got 19 seconds.

is 19 seconds good for the quad core?

That's more like it ;) Guess that's perfectly fine! :D An equivalent clock speed dual core would get (around) 19 * 2 = 38 seconds, which seems right. :)

I use 1.55, optimized for 4 cores and get just over 15sec for the 32M test.

I thought I was screwed up at first when I was getting 50+seconds, but I figured out the enabling all the cores in the advanced tab.

1.55 is the stable build you want to use.

and a quad-core is supposed to get around 15-20s .... depending on OS type, and optimization of the OS.

    I ran 1.55 (32MB) on following systems:

    NP9261, E6850 - 3GHz Duo Core: 27,5 sec
    NP5973, T9300 - 2.5GHz Duo Core: 31,3 sec
    NP8890, P4 - 3GHz HT: 86,4 sec
    Dell Desktop P4 - 2.4GHz One Core: 163,5 sec

What surprised me is that the T9300 came so close to the E6850!

What surprises me is that the _Dell P4 finished in less than 3 minutes. :D That wouldn't be a GX270, would it?

P.S., the "Dell" link seems to be broken.

Humpf, Wprime won't run on my puter, unexplained error.

I'm downloading all the drivers off the sager site and any other updates I can find. Its slow going but I'll get em and burn a CD and then reformat and start with a new vista install. Try to correct some of the performance problems I'm having. Hopefully all is well with this computer and the just the OEM didn't do a good job.

That's not so bad - I tried that benchmark once on my vaio, and I swear it snickered at me before locking up and refusing to run. :D

I never cared much for the benchmarks thing. It`s real life performance that matters.
Besides, my T7500 is 2 gen old :D
Sorry for you though, Shyster1 :D

Thanks (tho, if you hadn't already guessed it, I get a lot of pleasure out of "showing off" my lack of computing power - misery loves company :D ).

I'm not sure what "run as administrator" implies. I just click the Wprime icon. The program won't start, version 1.55

    You run Vista?
If so, rightclick the icon and select "Run as administrator".

    Works for me!

    Thanks hanko.

Version 1.55 ran 32m and the time was... 68.281 seconds.

I'm worried that something is wrong with my brand new computer. High wPrime times and low 3dmark06 scores.

Did you adjust the settings? You must set it to run four cores/threads and your Q6600 should then be below 20 sec.

Hm, I thought I replied to this thread. Yup I adjusted the settings to 4 threads. I think you said that before but I forgot. Thanks for your help.

The new time was around 17 seconds.
