HOW TO: Reduce the background noise and interferences on onboard sound (Realtek chips only)

    Just found this right now...

Today was released a new version of Realtek drivers(v.1.94), so I´ve downloaded and installed then, as usual.
    (link for them: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads...4&Level=4&Conn=3&DownTypeID=3&GetDown=false#1)

Then by luck started to experiment some settings on the sound panel, one of the first things that I usually do is disable the microphone. If you leave it on, it will receive the surrounding noise and will get it through the speackers/phones.

At some point I´ve started do mute some of the line ins and outs that I don´t use to often, and I usually don´t mute the PC Beep entry, but today I´ve tried... and on the moment that I was muting the PC Beep, WOW almost all the background noise is gone

The interference noise that was frequent to ear when your HDD/CPU was on high load is gone too... fantastic! Now sounds like my desktop´s Audigy 2 ZS, no kidding...

It´s really simple, try it preferentially with phones to ear the diferences...

Just click "I accept to the above." Then it will reload automatically. After that click "Next".

About the sound, it´s working like a charm here... the electronic background noise is completly gone! Clean an pure sound now, very noticeable improvements with phones...

Thanks for the tip, will try it out now...
But dang, that download takes AGES to complete! Even though it's only 25MB.

EDIT: I tried it just now... Didn't do anything for me :( Still the same old background noise...

Try with some good fidelity phones... it´s clearly noticeable the noise diference...

About the link, Realtek´s servers must use Pentium IIIs or i486s as CPUs... The down speeds are like 10kb/s or even less, thats like my old 56K dial-up net...
