I just finished taking off the insulation plate for my hard drive (it's the only way it would fit in the optical bay caddy). When I install it into the caddy, and turn the bay upside down, it hangs slightly...This is an issue for me, as I do keep the laptop in a backpack where it is standing on its side. Is there any way to prevent the hard drive from hanging down when the laptop is on its side/upside down? I'm afraid to put any kind of cushion on top of the hard drive, as the circuitry is exposed now that the insulation plate is off...
Thanks in advance![]()

Hmm...not quite sure where your post went Hutsady, but yes, when I ordered the laptop I requested that the optical drive be removed, and a hard drive caddy be installed in its place. The hard drive fits perfectly in the caddy, it's when you flip the caddy upside down, the "back end" of the hard drive (the side furthest from the connector) hangs downwards due to gravity, if that makes sense...if I'm still sounding confusing, I can provide pictures.

Doh, I deleted it because I reread your original post saying you did have a caddy so my post became irrelevant.
You could put something non conductive like a piece of rubber in there to fill in that gap. -
Simple things usually work best. Either a makeshift cushion if it fits into the caddy, for example a small piece of paper folded would keep the drive in place but would not block air/heat transfer. Or a small piece of office tape, fix the drive on the caddy. Amount needed is so small it has no ill effect whatsoever, except it keeps the drive in place.

there shouldve been some small hdd screws supplied either with ur drive or with the odd caddy. those are there for fixing the disk in place in the odd caddy
ull notice that the drive has screw holes both on its sides and also on its bottom.
cheers

When everything else fails, just screw it!
The screws should be provided with the caddy, lol
