    Hey everyone!

I will soon upgrade to a p170hm and I was wondering if the current hard drive I own is compatible with the new system. I would like to keep the old hard drive for security reasons, unless someone can recommend a very good method to wipe out all data. I know that ubuntu comes with a shred function but that's about it.

It will work as it's a SATA connection but i would highly suggest getting a new drive. The drive is the slowest part of a computer and with that one being a 5400rpm you should at least get a 7200rpm or even better a SSD as the primary. Putting a 5400rpm wont do it justice. The computer you want will have two internal bays so you can use your current drive in the second bay.

Good to know it will be compatible!

It's not going to be a replacement drive, I was planning to attach it to the empty bay. Thanks for the heads up.
