Since I'm a complete novice in the hardware department, I would like some help to replace with my own hands the hdd in my Clevo P150HM.
There may be several posts in this subforum about tips on how to do it, but I can't find a dedicated thread that guides you almost step-by-step on the procedure, much like this one.

Well, I don't expect something exactly like this with photos and stuff, but at least some mentions on where to be careful, if I should check something prior to installing the disk, and first of all what do I need to open and where the hard drive is located.

I would appreciate any help. :)

edit. Oh, the HDD I'm currently looking at is the Hitachi Travelstar 1TB. If anyone has any experience about this one, feel free to share it. I currently have a Samsung HN-M500MBB, which has caused me some problems I've mentioned in other threads.

You can download this PDF P15xHM_ESM.zip which will have instructions on how to change the hard drive. Also on the drivers disc which came with the computer there should be a PDF manual on there which tells you how.

Thanks a lot, the manual idea didn't even come to mind.
Very useful link too, I don't really know how I hadn't come across this manual.

Oh, and thanks for the answer on the other topic as well. :)

You're very welcome both times! Most people never do check the disc because they dont even realize there is a manual on there. Glad you got your answers though.

Ok, I opened the hard drive cover, but I didn't find any insulation plate on top of the disk. There is supposed to be one on every model, right?

isnt it just unscrew 2 screws, take hard drive out? by insulation plate i think you mean the plastic cover on the hard drive that is fixed onto the drive itself by 2 more screws? these 2 screws should be on the side of the hard drive, check if you see any. when you open up the cover, just use a bit of force and slide the hard drive out

The thing you're describing is missing from my hard drive.
So basically it's just "take hard drive out, then insert the new one". No screws or anything.

That's why I'm asking, I wanna know if this "insulation plate" is important (and in what way), so I should tell my reseller about it. I've read somewhere that it's not so important, but I want to hear some other views on the matter.

It shouldn't really be that important, but it depends on your drive thickness. If you have a slimmer SSD compared to standard HDD thickness (I believe about 7mm vs 11mm thickness)? then it may be important to keep the drive from flopping around.
