My 9262 arrived today, I wasn't expecting it. Until earlier this week I got an email saying it was shipped checked the tracking number and it was already in Canada cleared customs and on it's way to me. Honestly I was getting ready to put it on hold, since the m17x has come onto the scene. Since the email, I decided to take the wait and see approach. Haven't taken of the plastics. <- there the background.

    My config:
    SAGER NP9262
    - Display: 17" WUXGA "Glare Type" Super Cl
    - Arctic Silver: Arctic Silver 5 Thermal Compound
    - Dead Pixel Policy: Standard Dead Pixel Policy
    - Processor: ~Intel Core 2 QUAD Q6700 2.66GHz
    - Video Card: SLI ENABLED DUAL (2) 512MB PCI-E
    - External Monitor Video Adapter: None Standard
    - Ram: 4gb 800mhz
    - Exterior Finish: Standard Finish
    - Optical Drive: ~Combo 8x8x6x4x Dual Layer DVD <- thought I was getting blu ray :(
    - Primary Hard Drive: ~ 200GB 7200RPM (Serial-ATA 150)
    - Secondary Hard Drive: ~ 200GB 7200RPM (Serial-ATA 150)
    - Third Hard Drive: ~ 200GB 7200RPM (Serial-ATA 150)
    - Raid: Raid 0-Stripe (Combines primary
    - Vista 64

I noticed the c: drive is listed at 600gb (580 something, you get my drift) one drive. I had asked for raid 0 which I thought was two drives combined, and hopeing to keep the third for media usage. So how do I find out my setup, and change it if I do not like. Not going to be very happy if I need to format the hdd's and reinstall. I'm lazy.

    My pro's:
-it's quite, right now I'm at work sitting next to the book keepers desktop and I can't hear a thing from this beast, until the fans kick on.
-fit and finish are very nice, keys are solid and quite mouse pad buttons are a bit hard.
-nice looking, if I keep it a bit of pinstriping will be in order. Online picts did not do this computer justice.
-speaker's sound nice for a laptop.
-the screen if great, I do love the wuxga
-soo, soo much cheaper, and better than a Voodoo.
-played the download of Crisis on 1900/1200 with the blood option turning down shaders and shadows? What came across as recommended, for the little I played I thought it worked well.

    Con's:
    -not very good at Crysis
-no hdmi port, big reason I was going to put this on hold. Was planning to get a big tv, and wanted hdmi. I think the chassis is a bit dated, and the lack of this shows that. Even though the internals are top notch.
-when the lid is open the Sager emblem is upside down, this is almost as big a con as no hdmi. It really bugs me, if I complain enough think I might get a new on so I can fix it.

So before the bashing, berating, pats on the back. What can I do with the harddrive issue.

    Thanks.

"soo-soo much cheaper, and better than a Voodoo"

Well as a Voodoo owner, I will agree with the first part, and disagree with the second. You are not getting a better systemm, actually they are the same system excepty the Voodoo is painted by professionals.

About your raid question, you should have researched your raid before buying it. You want raid 5, not raid 0. You cannot just make the array change from raid 0 to raid 5 with a click of a button. You need to delete the array, and use the raid manager to select two drives for raid 0, and the third drive for backup. Once this is done, then you have to install xp.

There is no way around it, other than gettig an external harddrive for backup.

It is better to format and fix the raid issue now, while you have nothing on it. Once you start saving stuff to your laptop you will not want to be bothered with formatting and then copying all of your stuff back on it.

actually i believe he had the setup correct... raid 5 takes all three drives and uses two strips and a mirroring... that way all his data is backed up and speed is slightly increased... the way he wanted it (if im reading it right) is to have his xp installed on a raid 0 between 2x200GB and use 1x200 GB as a separate partition to store media... if thats what you wanted to do then you did not get what you wanted... raid 0 would have showed up as a 400GB C:... then there would be a D: drive that has another 200 gb... I would contact the dealer about this because I do believe they messed up... you can check under device manager... it should say Raid 0... atleast i think you can check there... but honestly there should be two partitions... unless they made all three into a raid 0 partition...

yeah Blaze thats what I was trying to say. It's what I asked for 400 on raid 0 and a backup/media drive with the 3rd. I didn't think 3 drives could be made into raid 0. So I think I got raid 5.

Sorry to P*** you off k-tron it was in one of your posts that I learned there the same system, so thanks. I just don't like the mark up. I am a bodyman/painter myself and paying a $1000.00 for a paint job of high caliber I do believe thats fair. They havent updated there systems in so long and charge to much for what they give, and I think that's unfair. A premium is fine but to much is not.

Funny thing, paint. In h-s I had a neighbor who owned a ratty old Datsun ('member them?) B-210 covered in grey primer - it ran, but wouldn't win any performance contests. He put it up for sale for $150 (back in pre-internet days, so only classified and for-sale signs, no pix) and even though a number of people stopped by to look and test-drive.

    Kinda like this one: (Before) Datsun_B210.jpg (After-sorta :p ) Datsun_B210_After.jpg

After a month of this, my neighbor went and got the quickie Maaco $200 special (includes a free razor blade to sc**** the over-spray off the windows  ). Other than that, he didn't touch the internals.

A week later he sold the thing for $600, after breaking up at least one fist-fight in his driveway over the thing.

Course, under that "professional paint job" it was still just ... a ratty Datsun B-210.

Now, if paint's your thing, great; but considering the premium you're gonna pay for a couple of ounces of "professional" enamel, on a cost-per-unit-of-performance basis, the Sager is better than the Voodoo equivalent. But that's just my 2-cents' worth. :D

The Sager and Voodoos share the same barebones from Clevo.

Yah, but the guy was smart enough to know that it was a very good bet; still, I think even he was surprised by the reaction.
