So more than 3 worry free years after i bought my SAGER 5793/Clevo M570RU-U from Xotic PC, I seem to be running into hardware failures.

Recently (today) while trying to play a game of SC2, I get a blue screen with the message something along the lines of "Hardware Malfunction Call your hardware vendor for support *** The system has halted" with no other text. (This happened 3 times back to back, the first 2 after I restarted the notebook and started SC2 and the third while watching a video on a news website)

Just random googling threw up this website: Hardware Malfunction Results in System Error Message

I would like to mention that I am a novice at hardware related stuff and the most I've ever done was remove my keyboard and the back cover to clean my vents and fans with compressed air.

I'd greatly appreciate it if somebody could explain to me what I should be doing exactly to try and diagnose and fix whatever the cause of this error showing up. I mean like step-by-step and with pictures if possible :). I'm frankly surprised the laptop even works (it boots up and I can access Windows Vista 64(Ergh) and I am typing this on the very same laptop) and I have my suspicions as to where the cause of the failure is but will leave the field clear for opinions other than my own.

Thanks for the help and time.

    Conclusion
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

5 crash dumps have been found and analyzed. 4 third party drivers have been identified to be causing system crashes on your computer. It is strongly suggested that you check for updates for these drivers on their company websites. Click on the links below to search with Google for updates for these drivers:

nvlddmkm.sys (NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 185.20 , NVIDIA Corporation)

    ??????

    unknown

If no updates for these drivers are available, try searching with Google on the names of these drivers in combination the errors that have been reported for these drivers and include the brand and model name of your computer as well in the query. This often yields interesting results from discussions from users who have been experiencing similar problems.

That being said and done, the blue screen I was getting in relation to the SC2 hardware crash is not recorded since the pc basically hung on that blue screen and did not dump and restart (no dumps show up for today)

Thanks for your help btw, greatly appreciate it.

Heading off to work now. Will be buying CDs etc incase I need to create bootable CDs.

I hope your gpu isn't going bad... When my m570u's geforce 7950gtx went bad it would crash loop until I went in under safe-made and disabled it from the device manager.

I had a sinking feeling that it might be the case. If this is so, is there anything I can do before getting this checked out by a professional? I almost cbfed tinkering around with the hardware unless there is a fail safe method of going about it.

One of the error is MEMORY_MANAGEMENT. Could possibly be RAM problem. The description is saying that it probably isn't a fault RAM above, but it would be nice if it was your RAM because it wouldn't cost much to replace.
Run memtest and see what you get.
People have also reported on google that removing ram and testing them individually seems to reveal a bad RAM stick.

You're also getting an nvidia error. Try updating your video drivers, and also check you're GPU temps while you're playing a game. Are you getting balloons at the bottom right in the windows taskbar that says that your nvidia drivers are failing?

Looks to me that all those errors are related to your GPU and the GPU onboard memory. I'd do a clean uninstall of your GPU drivers, run driversweeper to be sure, and do a clean install of the newest drivers. Keep an eye on temps as well as others suggested. If the temps are high, clean out your vents and consider repasting the GPU.

If you continue to have those same errors, it could be a sign of a failing GPU.

i did some articles reading regarding this problems.i cleaned the heatsink ventilation and i even repaste it. but the problems keeps on happening.
even worse few days ago i switch my lappy on and suddenly the screen went black while its logging on. the systems are running ok (i manage to logged in n out.im not sure but i can still hear the log in and out sounds) but theres no view even a single line. i really dont have any idea whts the problems whether the screen or the GPU went bad. on the screen i can still see dimmed some sort of light so to say.. so i'd really appreciate if some1 here can give me some explaination of whts happening and some solutions maybe..

Have you tried connecting an external monitor to your VGA port on your laptop to see if you can view your desktop on the external monitor?
That would help narrow your problem down pretty quickly on whether it is a display issue or GPU issue.
Have you gotten any BSOD errors? If you have, they are generally located in C:\Windows\minidump and can be analyzed using WhoCrashed found here WhoCrashed - Download.com
Just download and run that program, it will give you a quick, usually easy to understand readout of what went wrong with your system.
If you suspect RAM, memtest86 can help you testing that. Memtest86.com - Memory Diagnostic you will need to burn memtest to a CD/DVD using an appropriate ISO image burning capable program.
