    Hello all,
I have a Clevo M570A (Sager NP5720), and I need some hardware recommendations.

I need a new ODD (CD Drive) b/c my old one just bit the dust. and I realize I have a limited # of choices based on my notebook, but a recommendation of which one to buy would be appreciated and where to buy it.

Prefs: More formats supported (HD-DVD or Blu-Ray would be great), but faster DVD and CD R/RW speeds trump that.

I would like to get a new Wireless card.

Prefs: Format: Mini PCI Wireless types supported: b&g necessary (a&n would be cool) Power > More wireless types supported. Atheros would be best.

Thanks for any recommendations on the actual thing and where to buy it.

technically you can use any standard optical drive... even Blu Ray or HD DVD drives.

just make sure to use the custom bezel [that your current drive is using] for your notebook... to make the drive look aesthetically pleasing to the chassis.

The most common DVD-RW found with these notebooks currently is the Pioneer DVR-K17.

You can probably find it anywhere online... like Newegg.

Really? I looked at a bunch of my friend's ODDs for their laptops and they all seemed to have different connector styles.

If I posted a pic of the ODD and the connector would someone be able to identify it for me?

    Thx,

The Clevo gaming notebooks always try to keep their notebooks very standard for user upgrades.

Some other ODMs have proprietary optical drives.

I would strongly recommend to contact your vendor [tech support is best... sales wont know that much usually] on you inquiry about the optical drive upgrade.... they will tell you which they use normally.

Im sorry I probably won't call my vendor because the guy who runs it is very unresponsive (ISTNC ftl!)

So Ive been looking around Power Notebooks and they seem to have some made for the NP5720 which is the same as mine so I think those will work.

    Any recommendations on the wireless?

    thx again,
    -TBird

    Intel PRO/Wireless 2915ABG (802.11a/b/g)
