Hi, I am new here and I am interested in the Clevo x7200 notebook. I checked different resellers and I can't find it listed anymore on the resellers sites. It is like they all the sudden just took it off. I am starting to wonder now if it got discontinued.

They had temporarily tokk it off sales, because of a motherboard update. I think now it is back.

    Heya,

No they are not gone, supply was interrupted for everyone while the motherboard was updated for the 6970's

Where can I see which motherboard I have - and what can happen if the 6970m are with the old motherboard?
In the Clevo Bios thread you´ll find a 08. BIOS Update that supports 6970m, and the 09 Bios that supports "new motherboard".
    That´s a little confusing then...

No new motherboards have been shipped yet, to anyone

Contact your reseller to get it sorted as you dont want to be running with the incorrect mobo, never wise ;)

This delay of shipping in the US has nothing to do with the AMD 6970M GPU. ;)

Ok - but I don´t understand why the BIOS 08 already supports them- the new motherboard is supported in 09... one step BEHIND the 6970m support...

So did Clevo discovered problems with the old mainboard and had to make a new one? As far as I know, there are some units sold by different resellers with the 6970m already...

@Babyhemi - so a new motherboard IS NOT needed, it has nothing to do with it?

All I can say is whether you are using the AMD 6970M or the nVidia 485M, your present system motherboard should be fine... :)

Any word on when 'soon' means, whether the timespan is "within two weeks" or "within two months"?

The update adds a common port that is not present in the first gen, if you look at the specs and dont see a port missing that you need then you have nothing to worry about, there are no other upgrades to the board.

edit, prostar is still selling the x7200 with the old board for those looking to buy.

Assuming that the first gen is the one that's currently out right now, then that would mean the HDMI in is the only port that's missing. The TV in port is 'missing' as well, but that requires an internal TV tuner card that nobody seems to be selling, whereas the HDMI in is missing altogether.

    Hi Ranma13,

HDMI-in is already an option - I got one with HDMI-in.

    CLEVO - Products

As far as I know Sager didn´t take this as an option, so there are not so many X7200s out there with it...

I don't know what the motherboard update is for, but I was hoping it would be made so you can even put more powerful GPUs in it. This would make the computer even more powerful.
