As it says in the title Has anyone managed to buy and install a second gtx280m onto the M980NU themselves?

If so, where did you get it from, how much and how difficult is it?

well i have re-seated both of my card on my M980Nu when i brought it to put some good thermal compound on them while I was at Kobalt and the phyiscal act of doing it was really easy.

8/9 screws for the main back plate, then unscrew the heatsink for the card and then do whatever and reverse. Very easy todo.

However i know for a fact my OEM cant get hold of cards to sell, they are only able to get hold of warranty replacements and even then its a push

not only that but the cost is very expensive for a 2nd card

Best option is to get 2 cards with the machine itself, even if that means waiting a little while

Ah I thought I would ask the question since I ordered it with one card, knowing it was SLI but not knowing they are hard to get, I does seem pointless to me to make mxm but not supply any frigging cards for them. my main concern is that iv been to the mobile card sellers thread and all the sites that sell them are really seedy and dark, I heard they did a mobile physix card, could I put that in?

The machines just came out, I'm sure all the cards are in use actually building them. If you want the option to order later I'm sure it will be there but you need to give it time.

It's just shipped and tbh I can't afford the extra card anyways, but I do hope your right about there all being built and there will be future availablity, is this card brand new then, how longs it been out? And If it does become readily available will it be the first notebook graphic card that is?

Only a few of us on this board have the 980. All of us ordered it with 2 GPUs to date. So I don't know if you'll find anyone who's done it. I guess check with owners of other models that have used the 980.

Just make sure you get the MXM 3.0 version and that it comes with a HS, and you're good to go. Clevo's are built so that it's easy to swap the CPU/GPU/HDD etc.
