    Hello everyone,

Have anyone from the USA recently tried buying from Eurocom, paying CAD dollars? I heard that for the past few months, they are not allowed to do that anymore, and forced to pay in USD. Paying in CAD is way cheaper than paying in USD in Eurocom, and US customers can't pay in CAD, but everywhere else in the world.

Again, I just want to know if anyone tried to pay in CAD recently if you are from the US. If you did, how did you do it? Thanks.

YMMV, but it seems like around the time I purchased from them at the end of May (in USD), their CAD policy was changing for US customers. You can try but don't be surprised if they say no. On another note, you can get a 10% discount if you're associated with an educational institution (student, teacher, etc). If eligible for the discount, pairing that with a price match can result in nice deal. You'd be surprised what some price-match haggling can get you, even in USD ;) .

P.S.: If purchasing from US, Eurocom is regarded as international retailer so Visa charges a fee that's a small % of your purchase price. Best to know that in order to avoid unwelcome surprises, like I experienced.

Yeah, Eurocoms educational discount is pretty great, I used it myself.

I do realize the fact that they have a 10% student student, but even with that, paying in Canadian is still cheaper than paying in USD after the student discount.

Also, I am not quite sure what do you mean by pairing up with a price match.

Getting them to match a lower price from a competitor, i.e. get them to match someone else's cost and then get a 10% student discount on top of that.

Back in Feb 2015, people took advantage of a 10% off promotion and substantial exchange rate difference to buy Eurocom machines for about 15-20% below the selling price. That's when Eurocom started enforcing the USD for US customer policy I think. Doesn't hurt to ask.

That's what I don't understand. Only US customers are not permitted from buying in Canadian dollars, but not everywhere else in the world. Won't other international buyers do the same thing, and Eurocom still loses money? That's just like a way to say "f**k you, we want all your money" to US customers.
