Does a 1TB HD fit on the 9262 or 9280 laptops?

Has anyone upgraded their 9280 with the Western Digital Scorpio Blue 1TB 5200RPM 8MB Cache 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s. These have the 12.5 mm height.

Am looking at buying two of these, but don't know if they'll fit on my 9280.

    Any help appreciated.

    Hello,

I am am sorry I can not answer you question, but I have to warn that the 1TB hdd from WD is not good to use it as a main drive. It seems that the drive is very fast with large files transfer, but it has problems with small files. I used it as a main drive for a week or two and then got sick of how slow it was working and went back to my previous 500GB WD drive. Now I am using the 1TB hdd only as external drive.

    Hi Pasoleatis,

I noticed that you have a D901C. Did the 1TB drive fit in the 2nd or 3rd slot?
Or did you just put it on the 1st (large) slot?

I believe that the 901F has the same dimmensions inside as the 901C. Since I'm looking at putting 2-1TB drives, I want to make sure that they would fit, before buying them (you know companies, ...no returns).

I am OK with a slower drive. I would use them in RAID-1. I just need the space and reliability.

    Regards,

    Hello,

I was not sure if the 9280 was the D900F. I do not know how are the slots numbered. It basically fits in the main drive where one would put the 2 hdd in RAID 0 (under the mouse pad), but there is no space to put another (normal size) near. So there is space for the second hdd only the bay on top of the battery.

In conclusion one can install in the D901C (and probably in a D900F) a 1TB hdd in the bay under the mouse and one normal size on top of the battery.

    Pasoleatis,

Thanks for your assistance. From the looks of it you saved me a bundle. I'll need to go with 2-640BG HDs instead of 2-1TB HDs.

    Regards,

    Douglas

That'd be great. But I hope that the pricing will be competitive at aroud $190 per 1TB.
