Haven't bothered to update 7970M drivers for a while - what is currently the best option?

Along with many other people, I got a P150EM back in June with a 3610QM/8GB 1600 RAM/750GB HDD/7970M. Other than some initial issues that I sorted out, the laptop has been performing beautifully for the past 6 months. The thing is, I haven't updated any drivers since I got it. Not once. I know new ones have been released, but would someone be able to tell me which drivers for the 7970M are currently the most stable? I've searched around and it seems 12.10 is. Is this correct? Also, are there any other drivers that are stable that I should go around and update? Have some of the dreaded underperformance/Enduro issues been fixed? Kind of a noob when it comes to this, so help is appreciated. Thanks.

I think the Enduro issues are still fairly prevalent, although they're getting better.

12.10 is the latest "stable" release - stable, as in it's the most recent, official, and tested driver available. Beyond 12.10 is beta, which may or may not rectify any issues you come across with other drivers - or it may give you a slew of new problems. ;)

If you update and you run into more harm than good, you can easily roll back or use something like Driver Sweeper so you can do a clean install of the driver that worked again.

Thanks - I'll check it out. And to roll back I can just use default system restore?

Do create a restore point just incase. You can also use the driver roll back that Windows has.

I recommend the latest 12.11 beta driver (beta11.) I've been using it for almost a month and it's really stable. Some people have reported BSODs on startup, but you can keep that from happening by booting the laptop up on battery and not plugged in. If you do experience instability, you can try the 12.11 Enduro Performance driver http://forum.notebookreview.com/sager-clevo/696634-amd-12-11p-7970m-performance-driver-install-guide.html

Also, you'll want to upgrade your intel hd 4000 driver as well (there's a link to it in the last thread.)

^^ What he said. Best gaming performance is from the BETA 11. If stuff starts acting crazy, remove the "Application Profiles".
