    Having huge problems cleaning fans on the Clevo P650

    Im having huge problems cleaning the fans on the Clevo p650hp.

    Firstly, the back panel was really tight and i needed to use two thin screwdrivers to pry it off. Not a good sign...

    Secondly, I couldnt remove the fans to clean them. Here's a quick pic that I took : https://i.imgur.com/QJ2Z1sk.jpg

    CPU Fan : On the left is the CPU fan, on the right is the GPU fan. I could not remove the bracket screws for the CPU fan as they were so tight that they just didn't move, and I didnt want to remove the heatsink either. I was able to remove the cover of the fan to clean inside, but could not detach the fan, you can see that theres a small clip holding the fan cable in place and that is preventing me from removing the cover entirely.

    So without being able to remove the fan properly, i wasnt able to clean the fan blades, which has a lot of dust stuck to it. Compressed air doesnt work, the dust sticks to the blades. The blades are too small for me to use anything to wipe in between either...q-tips are WAY too large.

    Only thing I can think of is to wash the fan blades to remove the dust, but I cant do that I cannot remove the fan entirely.

    The fan cover screws are so small that I can barely hold them, and I cant put them back properly because they keep dropping into the laptop. How are you supposed to hold and screw them back?

    GPU Fan : Mostly, the same problems. I couldnt see a way to remove the fan without removing the heatsink, so i tried removing the cover, and was able to clean inside. But I cant clean between the fan blades and there still seems to be residual dust stuck to the heatsink. I couldnt screw the fan cover back so its mostly being held in place by the back panel at the moment.

    Any ideas on how you are supposed to clean the fans for this laptop model?

    As a suggestion, you could try using something like a small camel hair paint brush, or maybe a makeup brush, to reach between the fan blades to dislodge the dust buildup.

    Or hold the fan blades still and use compressed air.

    I'd take the whole heatsink off, makes it so much easier to give it a proper cleaning that way.
    If this is the first time cleaning in a long time, there most likely is a bunch of gunked up dirt/hair hiding under the fan covers and restricting air flow.

    It depends on the environment the machine had been kept in.
