I recently bought a M15x and returned it because of the flimsy case and video card overheating issues. Now I am considering buying a NP5793 instead but I can't decide if I want 1680 x 1050 or 1900x1200. In some ways I am tempted by the lower resolution to leave more bandwidth to the 8800 graphic card when playing games. Why are most people picking 1900x1200?

If I was going to get the NP5793 (looking good so far, still waiting to see how the 860TU will be), I would definitely choose the lower resolution.

But I'm interested to hear about the M15x. I was considering it but then I remember A) It's an Alienware and B) There seems to be heat issues. However, I thought they were supposed to be fixing that?

Couldn't agree more Dexgo... my 5793 has the high res and I couldn't be happier with it! It's the only way to go in my opinion!

I played counterstrike on my sager 5680 1600x1200 ati 128mb from 2003 in max settings.

If you can Sport the resolution... go for it.

CS for instance gets like 200fps 1900x1200 everything maxed.

every single game except crysis I can play at max res on my 8800m gtx.

if you have good eyes the high res is a must
it makes the screen seem bigger, more like 19" :)
    seriously

plus higher res seems to improve my accuracy in games like tf2! go figure :)

dunno, but its nice and bright, unless of course you are in a sunny area, but thats glossy screens for you :)

I sometimes think its a bit darker, but it might be me, I really do have tired eyes from staying up far too late playing games :)!
