I have the soundblaster x-fi 5.1 pro usb sound card, which recently stopped working in 5.1 (it only works in stereo now). I double checked if my speakers were at fault but they still work fine with my xbox 360 and ps3.

So i tried uninstalling all the x-fi related sofware and drivers yet something is still remaining on my system because even after everything is uninstalled, my notebook automatically installs the drivers for the x-fi card without giving me a choice.

I heard that guru 3d driver sweeper works but i can't find it to download anywhere. Does anyone know how i can completely clean out my creative soundblaster drivers?

you can find driver sweeper HERE
run it in safe mode and it should get rid of all the remnants of the driver.

Hmmm i totally cleaned out both my realtek and creative drivers and then reinstalled the x-fi drivers and it still doesnt work in 6 channel direct.

What's strange though is it partially works through the toslink port. But it's glitchy, sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. It also makes a pop noise everytime an audio source kicks in.

Maybe just the 6 channel direct lines are broken?

~facepalm~ Nevermind, i just noticed the 6 channel direct switch on the back of my z-5500's control module was switched off. No clue how that happened, maybe the switch dropped down or something. Anyways no problems anymore.

And to think i was getting ready to reinstall windows!
