    This may seem like a stupid question to you folks, but can you use the HDMI on the P170EM as an Input for a PS3?

    It's output only. You can get a USB video capture card with HDMI in.

    As in video capture card do you mean like a haupage HD PVR?

    Yes that would work. It looks like it only has component though which will support your PS3. Look for another one with HDMI so you can do your PS3 and other HDMI devices too.
