Hey everyone, I have a pair of the over the ear bose headphones with a built in mic and I can't seem to get the in-line mic to play nice with my p180. I have about 6 computers I work with at work and it works fine for all of them with just plugging and playing, going to sound input options and selecting the in-line mic... No in-line mic shows up on my Clevo... :(

I mainly want this to work for Skype... Other than my cell it's my primary phone, and people keep telling me the built into the laptop mic is pretty garbage to hear me on (perhaps all the fans under the beast... hehehe).

Anyways, thanks everyone, I've tried all 4 audio jacks and it's a no-go, I searched google and it "should" just be plug-and-play...

    Computer: See Sig
Headphones : Bose AE2 Headphones – Bose AE2i Headphones - Bose Headphones and Headsets

Also just a note, I have the ear buds as well, and they don't work in the p180 either, same issue. They also work in all other test laptops.

Test laptops 3 different model dells, (don't have numbers) 2 diff model IBMs, and a macbook pro (late 2010).

Hmm, I don't really have a solution for this. Isn't there a mic port? I would assume that at least the mic would work in that slot.. Drivers/software updated also? Do you have an external mic you could test alone? The headphone part works ok?

I agree that the built in mic sucks.. When I had a 150HM I tried to use it to chat in-game with my friends and they complained about a static/white noise. I too narrowed it down to the fans lol.

There is a jack for headphones/speakers, and another for a mic... The deal with the in-line mic is that there is only a single 3.5mm plug you put into the jack. It didn't come with a splitter, though I guess that would be an option.

Even when I plug it into the mic jack, windows doesn't recognize it as a mic.

After a little reading it looks like for normal speakers there is 2 strips on the 3.5mm pin, for others that are built with an in-line mic like my headphones, there are 3 strips... but most if not all laptops in the last 2-3 years have been only using 3.5mm jacks with the 3 strips connections... Does anyone know if Clevo cheaped out here and that is why I can't get it to work? (womp womp)

If the jack on the headphones includes the mic and sound, and the laptop has a port for mic and sound (separate) then you will need to buy an adapter to split the headphone 3.5mm jack into 2 x 3.5mm jacks to plug into the laptop. They're fairly cheap. Though i can't guarantee this will work as i use spdif out anyways for my headphones.
