We live in BC, Canada. He had a NP8130 purchased from Reflex Notebooks. The power receiver on his 8130 broke, and he had to send it back to Sager for repairs. He had to cover the shipping to Sager and back, $60 each way for a total of $120, because there are no Sager repair centres in Canada.

This piece of info is giving me pause to order a Sager, as I am afraid that if I do, Murphy's Law will make sure that something goes wrong and I'd have to spend the shipping costs.

Can reseller clarify if this info is accurate?

I believe it is Malibal that offers a Canadian specific waranty in case something breaks.

Your best bet is to purchase a warranty upgrade for Canadians it will cost you extra but will cover 2-way shipping if something breaks.

I know warranties will cover shipping..but I am on a budget and do not want to pay anything extra if possible.

Again, I'd like a reseller to clarify, what they can and can't do for free after a purchase

Its pretty clear when you are ordering the laptop. Why else would they have upgrades for free shipping for warranty repairs? This is not exact a 'hidden' catch. Its all upfront.

as far as i know it is covered in the country it is purchased from so the warranty for parts and labour is still covered but the shipping is not.
are there no canadian clevo resellers you could buy from?

eurocom maybe? I would gladly pay it to get a better made notebook if I was in your shoes... but otherwise your choice is to pay way more for an alienware.
