    I came across this thread yesterday while looking for something completely different. What got me curious was this particular picture:

    This is what appears to be a heat spreader backplate for the 780M. I always wondered if Clevo had a solution for cooling the vRAM chips on the back of the card, and it seems they do. Now the question I have is will this fit in the P3xxSM models? Part of me thinks they Clevo didn't include this because it was incompatible with the internal design, the other part of me thinks they just cheaped out somehow.

    The P570WM has it integrated already but it's not required.

    OK, so the P1xxSM series have it, the P570WM has it, but the P3xxSM series don't. What the hell? Do you know if these actually don't fit the P3xxSM chassis (ie design oversight), or Clevo simply cheaped out? I'm really tempted to just buy a pair and see for myself, but don't feel like breaking a $700 card lol

    It's not required, the GDDR5 simply does not get that hot.
