Well, it was a battle between the NP5793 and 8660, but this barely came out on top, here are the specs

    - Display: 15.4" WSXGA+ LCD with Super Glossy Surface (1680X1050)
    - Processor: 45nm Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor P8400 / 3MB L2 Cache, 2.26GHz, 1066MHz FSB
    - Video & Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce 9800M GT Graphics with 512MB DDR3 Video Memory
    - Operating System: Genuine MS Windows® VISTA Home Premium 32/64-Bit Edition
    - Memory: 4GB Dual Channel DDR3 SDRAM at 1066MHz
    - Primary Hard Disk Drive: 250GB 7200rpm SATA 300 Hard Drive
    - Optical Drive: 8X DVD±R/RW/4X +DL Super-Multi Drive & Software
    - Wireless Network Card: Intel Wi-Fi Link 5300AGN - 802.11A/B/G/N Wireless LAN Module
    - Bluetooth: Internal Bluetooth V2.0 + EDR Module
    - Primary Battery: Smart Li-ION Battery Pack
    - Integrated Security Device: Fingerprint Reader

Do you think I made the right choice? Hows it look? Can't wait to get it!

EDIT: My biggest concern is the fact that it seems like every 8660 owner is having problems with the hard drives reaching very high temperatures, is this still happening with current builds? and if so, is there any solution, besides cutting a whole through the bottom plate, which will bring them down?

Any help would be great, thanks.

Get a Zalman NC2000 and run the notebook in silent mode if you're just browsing/word processing/not running games/etc.

Hi Trey and welcome to the forum.
congratulations on your new purchase, you wont be disappointed.

most of us on here have the p9500 processor but yours is still great spec.
where are you managing to get the 9800GT card as these are so hard to get now as they have been replaced by the 9800GTS

there was lots of panic at first about HD temps but most of them were unfounded. as long as yours doesnt touch 65c then you will have no problems.the only time mine hits 60-61c is when its defraging. my average temps are 45-51c

good luck and let the waiting game begin.

I just place my order with XoticPC too, waiting for reply. Anyone here has experience dealing with them with international shipping? I'm not quite sure how to send them money as they don't accept credit card beyond certain places.

I have similar specification with yours but i got myself a P9500 and 320gb 7200rpm hd since I've save a couple bucks for not getting the higher resolution screen and blu-ray drive (Xotic only offer GTS though, I think).

Anyway, detail about the banking stuff is much appreciate for example... what is bank wire transfer(Yes I'm only 18)?

ask Xotic for an account # and a transfer # and their banking institition, once they have given u all of that go to the same banking institution with a money draft or cash or something and send the money to their account

If they don't accept credit card, either go to your post office and ask for money order(s). You might need more than one. Or you can go to your bank and ask for a bank draft. Basically, this is a like a cheque. For both, you just put it in an enveloppe and ship it with a tracking number. Or a bank wire transfer could also work, just go a to Western Union or something. These are some of the saffest method, as long as the recipient is known.

The wire transfer through the bank is guaranteed and doesnt cost u anything if you take the money to the institution u are transfering to.

Again, thanks, I just receive an email from Xotic PC with all the necessary info and I feel a lot more confidence now. My time zone is 14 hours faster than they are, which, during the business hour that they will send me email, I'm suppose to be sleeping (For example, now, 2.25 AM).

Going to be an owner of NP8660 soon (So I hope)!

Congratulations to both of you. Be sure to post benchmarks and pictures when your machines arrive! :) Especially since the GT is indeed rather rare...

Thanks, but I haven't received a confirmation email from sager saying that my machine has shipped yet :(

I just don't want to see a "Sorry we're all out of the 9800m GT so do you want a 9800 GTS instead" email, that would suck.

Also, has anyone else ordered directly from sager? and if so how long does it usually take to receive the machine?

I'm so sorry to take half your thread asking my stuff...

Don't worry though, even if they got you the GTS... it will not be much difference in term of real world performance.

But I don't see option for 9800M GT in their website... how do you get that option?

Congrats to both of you, hopefully getting mine soon as well :D

Tip: Eurocom still has the GT.

    Congrats!

I just order the NP5793 from sager directly because they offered me cheaper international shipping.

I also paid with Wire Transfer (I'm living in Mexico).
