I have a Sager 7255 (Clevo N155RD) Gaming Laptop. I have this strange issue that the Headphone out jack sometimes does not work properly. Left or right channel becomes virtually 0 volume, a few times no output at all (yes I'm sure it's the audio card or drive as I've of course plugged in different listening devices.)

I do not believe it is a hardware issue for two main reasons:

    1) Typically hardware failures are all or nothing - it either works all the time or malfunctions/doesn't work all the time.

    2) Through an exhaustive search I've uncovered a few old threads with users having similar problems, and there were various things tried to solve, but there seemed to be no one consensus or solution. The most common had to do with the "Hotkey" drivers/software not being installed or being outdated. There's actually no "HotKey"driver for this model but "Control Center" software which is I think what includes the hotkey functionality. I have uninstalled and re-installed it.

The issue doesn't happen when I lock the Windows screen which some have reported.

I tried 6 restarts and shut down/reboots and that doesn't clear it up.

It seems to only resolve after coming back from sleep or hibernation and not all the time.

It's driving me crazy to try to determine what I need to do to consistently fix it when it happens.

I think the only reason not more people are talking about this is that probably most gaming laptop users run on A/C power most of the time and/or maybe it's a fluke with this model but I would expect the Control Center software (ver 5.000.0.22 Oct-2015 on the Sage site for my model) is buggy. But I would expect it would have been updated to fix the issue? But strangely, looking at the Sager page all the drivers are from Oct-15.

Is maybe the issue that Sager doesn't do a good job updated the drivers on their download page? Maybe I should find a newer model with the same audio card and see if the Control Center is newer.

Well on the 6852, the Control Center is 5.0001.1.08 Feb 17. Guess I could give that a try.
