Hi guys I ordered a Sager NP9150 from Xotic, great service btw. Only took about 4 days to recieve. I ordered the laptop without an OS so I had to install one and then install the drivers from the disc they send you. Once I installed everything, mostly everything ran perfectly. I noticed some framerate issues when I played Psychonauts. Then when I tried to play Battlefield 3, it was unplayable. I then downloaded FRAPS and my framerate on BF3 was 9-10 on medium and high. Even on Low I only achieved a 17-19 framerate. Here are my specs:

    Sager NP9150
    -Processor Sager - 3rd Generation Intel® Ivy Bridge Core™ i7-3610QM (2.3GHz - 3.3GHz, 6MB Intel® Smart Cache, 45W Max TDP) (SKU – S2R174)
    -Graphics Video Card nVidia GeForce GTX 675M 2,048MB PCI-Express GDDR5 DX11 with Optimus™ Technology
    -Ram 12GB - DDR3 1600MHz Dual Channel Memory

I went on Nvidia's website but the GTX 675 has no drivers. What do I do, any suggestions? I could really use some help.

    Using the integrated graphics probably?
Try manually setting the 675m to both of them, and see how it does.

I agree with Jonny.. you are probably running the integrated graphics card.

I thought that was the problem too. I set BF3 to start up with the Nvidia graphics chip. BF3 still wouldn't run correctly.

Have you installed all drivers from the cd?
Go into device manager and check no issues there.

I deleted the current driver and re-installed from the disc. BF3 now runs on Ultra :). Thanks for trying to help.

if you want nvidia's most recent release, you'll likely have to follow iaTa's advice. you'll perform just as well with the older driver set that came on your disk, but just in case you decide to update (unless nvidia does first).

I returned an HP last summer for refund because of "switchable" graphics, that wouldn't switch for me in FSX. I spent an additional $400 to buy a Sager 8130, knowing I'd not have to put up with the vagaries of switchable graphics, as my 8130 has no integrated graphics--it's only got a 560M. Now I can run FSX without problem, with excellent frame rates. I thought that the SG nonsense was sorted out a few months back. no???

Wow, I did not know the laptop had to be plugged in  . That explains a lot. Only play games when charging.

^not sure if you are being serious or joking esq

using battery is only for when you are on the move for brousing and any strenuous work or gaming should always be on mains.

as mentioned also make sure you are set to high performance mode (hover mouse over the battery in task bar in bottom right of screen).

also download 3dmark06, 3dvantage and 3dmark11 in my signature below and run some benchmarks and post results on here so we can tell if its running properly.

I've used the modded 301.42 on my GTX 675M before. That one forces GTX 675M to run at 0.92v instead of 0.87v and sometimes the laptop doesn't shutdown completely (Keyboard light still on). Good or bad, you judge it.

LOL! Yeah, I discovered I can't enjoy simming when the 8130 isn't plugged in. I made a call to tech support about that when I first got my lappy... :)

Battlefield 3 only runs correctly when my laptop is charging. Even on high performance, when not charging, I only get about 10 FPS. As soon as I plug in the charger the games starts running perfectly. I'm guessing that is not normal?

Yes, I would say that is normal. The battery really can't support the powerful GPU, so the computer turns the GPU off when not plugged in (hence the terrible FPS).

I did this for the first two days I had my new laptop. I saw the energy star option and thought "sure why not." I, apparently, like making my own problems.

It was like night and day after I switched it back.

yep, you cant game on battery power, it just does not have enough juice to feed both CPU and GPU. You would also be killing your battery at much quicker rate than normal.

Yes, your battery is not for gaming and cannot output enough juice to power the 100W GPU in 3d clocks. Even if it could, your battery life would go down to maybe 10 minutes. I personally never run anything on battery that would use the dGPU, battery gaming is for N64 emulators and the like that can work just fine on the HD4000.
