I loaded vista ultimate 64 on this lappie and the lappie shuts down just fine and restarts just fine but when I want it to go to sleep/hibernate I get a windows error and I have to restart.

Does anybody have this issue with ultimate 64? ANy fix for it?

Only when hibernating/sleep? I've had similar problems before with another laptop and it was one of the memory sticks.

Hum, I thought that when there's a BSOD, there was a path somewhere that point to the faulty driver (eg *.sys). I remembered having a BSOD because of some faulty drivers. I thought there was more infos on a BSOD, maybe you could check the Event Viewer. Like Greg says, its generally something small like a memory stick that cause all that trouble.

    Hello DRTH_STi,

Do you have Easy File and Folder Protector installed on this machine?

If so you may want to uninstall the program then search and delete the file fdcbnt.sys. Then you can try reinstalling it to see if the issue persists.

If you dont have that program installed, you may want to contact Microsoft with the BCCodes.

You will receive free Vista support by following the link below and selecting your region.

Thanks travis - unfortunately don't have that program.

I'm gonn try removing each mem dimm one dimm at a time and doign the same test (try to hibernate) to see if I can isolate it to one dimm if memory is the problem. I'm also gonna try memtest86 to see if it's running ok. Any other program suggestions are appreciated...i'll reinstall vista premium 32 bit if this problem persists

anybody running ultimate 64 on their m860tu's?

make sure to run a CHKDSK C: /F (in command prompt) to fix any HDD errors.
    - For Vista: you must run Command Prompt as Administrator

but I like the MemTest86+ test, it an easy way to give you memory a thorough testing.

Drth, I had an AW before and several people were having the same problem.
In the end, it was the SODIMM brand that was being used, that was giving that problem.
I think they were using QImonda (or something that sounds vaguely like that) and that brand was causing the same problem.

    What brand is PCMW using?
