right so i was ready to buy the BluRay x80r from Novatech becuase the version i wanted was being discontinued, now i hear it aint and so what would be the best laptop form the three listed below to get if i:

1, Plan to upgrade the CPU to the X9000
2, Plan to Upgrade to BluRay drive
3, Would a 2.1Ghz processor be good enough for now?

i wouldnt be upgrading for say 3-6months and i hear that a Quad Core M is going to be released will that be within 3-6 months, will the 5793 be able to use it?

The 5793 will probably not be able to use it (it will cost 1000$ though), since it will be on a different platform (Montevina).
My advice is to go for the Blu-Ray version, as it's great value for money.

but is it worth going for the BkuRay version when im going to upgrade to the X9000 wouldnt it be cheaper to go for the first x80r with T8100, how much does the x9000 cost on its own in £, where could i buy one?

Ash, FTB gives sound advice as usual. Do all the research you can to see if anything you are interested in as far as adding power/functionality/processing to your unit would work. That's always the way I would go first, as BluRay is going to continue to get cheaper and cheaper over the next months....just a thought...

    pat!

the thing im worried about the BluRay version is that its an extra £200 for what, the BluRay dive and an extra 100Mhz i dont think thats worth it and as i will upgrade to the X9000 maybe the version with T8100 would be better for now, would be saving £300 which i could put towards new accessories and the x9000 and i dont really need the BluRay drive now and like you said Pad11 BluRay drives will get cheaper i just cant see why i should pay the extra money if im going to upgrade anyway

would the T8100 be good enough for now, until i upgrade?

I believe that Blu Ray + 100Mhz is really worth 200 quid. Now try and understand how cheap the actual laptop is, even with these two differences. Don't upgrade to a useless CPU. Save your money for quad core.

but i was told that Quad Core wont work in the 5793? i was thinking would 2.1Ghz eb enough for gaming and the like as if Quad Core is possible for the 5793 then i would upgrade to that instead.

can Quad Core M be used within the 5793

please dont talk about the 9262 ive only just got my self off wanting it lol

and again would 2.1Ghz processor be okay/good with gaming and work until i upgrade to Quad Core M?

To be honest I wouldnt order a notebook at this time, having upgrading the main components later in mind... most likely the quad m processors wont work with the mobo in the 5793. Theres no way to be certain, but I wouldnt take the risk.

    just my opinion though :)

and how long will it take for Quad Core m is released and another version of the 5793 to be released? im guessing but it wont be within the next two weeks will it? i guess i could wait little longer but i have to order by the end of May at the latest

i hear a BIOS update can fix errors could that be used to help people with the 5793 to be able to use Quad Core M? i dont know anything about BIOS also whats a Mobo?

It will take roughly four or five months to actually have a quad core laptop in your hands.

is there anyway to change the motherboard to a newver version if the 5793 cant use Quad Core M, what is the likliness of it being able to use Quad Core M without an update?

A 2.1 will be just fine for gaming.
I game on an older C2D 2.2 and it`s doing just great.
But a Penryn would run more power efficient and would generate less heat.

if you insist you need a laptop now then get the 5793, if you want to wait then wait for the new Clevo's in the summer, but there will be something better than those around the corner when they come out, and so on and so forth... if the T8300 isn't available then get the next one up, Novatech are selling these at a good price, im guessing it only reads Blu Ray and doesn't write though, i personally wouldn't want one which doesn't do both.

Yeah... I was thinking of waiting for Montevina myself... turns out it'd be the most useless things to do... since mobile quad cores would be that much closer and the penryn/montevina difference would then seem negligible!

Not quite negligible, but not really that important if you need a laptop sooner than July/August. That first quad core is going to be just a marketing trick (2.53 Ghz for 1k is just absurd) or a technological "preview" of what's going to come out in 09.

okay ive decided to go for it, just wondering would 2.1GHz be good enough for gaming now and future? as i could get the x80r with 2.1Ghz processor and 2GB ram (would upgrade myself) today or do you think that i should wait and get the version with T8300 and 4GB ram for the extra £100

its shame that new tech comes out so quick for computers its like you buy a system and even before its delievered, it has become outdated, i guess its okay for computers as they can be upgraded a lot more then Laptops which is ashame.

well if Quad Core M doesnt work then ill most likly upgrade to an X9000 at some point in the future, if i brought one could i over clock it my self?, i mean is there anything on the laptop that would stop me from overclocking it?

just a quick what the difference between the Extreme Edition chassis and the "normal chasis" as i want to use the x9000 but i believe the "normal chasis" cant use it and that only the The Extreme Edition chassis becuase it has specifically better thermal performance due to larger heatsinks so it can support the X9000. is that true?

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that is correct. Unless the chassis is the same as The Extreme Edition with the extra fan, you will not be able to upgrade from the T8300 CPU to the X9000 due to it's higher thermal output.

some of may have ansered this before but just to be sure

do you think i should go for the T8100 or the T8300 as im going to upgrade to the x9000 in the future?

I'd go with the T8300, but the T8100 is also a good performer... Yeah Novatech sell the extreme edition chassis, so you are fine there, 2GB RAM would be the bare minimum you should go for but if the 4GB RAM they provide comes at a low price then go with that, saves the hassle then...

yea the T8100 is more than capable i would imagine, plus you did say you will upgrade later... i got the T9300 myself, but i dont plan to upgrade to the extreme range of cpus. It also depends on what games you will be playing, i think the T8100 is more than capable, games are more GPU dependent now... so you shouldnt be worrying about the CPU's, as the one's we have mentioned are good performers.

Just to clarify, the extreme edition chassis does have a larger cpu heatsink and has a space for a third fan but it does not actually have a third fan. Also it was developed for the X7800 and X7900 which both have considerably higher TDP (thermal footprints) than the X9000. The X9000 would work fine in a non extreme edition chassis, I had a, X7800 in one for a while (with heatsink modifications) and it ran fine.

As I said before, a 2.0 C2D is enough for even recent games.

yep from Novatech, ordered yesterday, awaiting stock, should have it on Wednesday, i'll be doing a full indepth review, with plenty of high resolution pictures.

i wouldn't bother with the X9000 as the cost is disproportionate to the performance increase, nor will it be fully utilised. bearing in mind these are user upgradable you'll have time in the future to update it, the T9300 seems perfect blend of speed and cost in my opinion, keep a close eye on the Sager and Clevo forum for my full review on the UK supplied Clevo :)

cool, im not upgrading the CPU yet so hopfully when i do get it, the price will have gone down quite a bit shame Quad Core M wont be able to be used

cant wait for your review, hopefully ordering mine at the lasest in 3weeks based on what else i will be ordering.

    Vista Premium 64Bit £70
    Laptop Sleeve £10
    Bag Pack £70

so i may get the laptop with Vista + laptop sleeve and wait to get the Bag Pack so i can get it sooner then just buy the Bag Pack when i have the money.
